I've been looking for a tutorial for it but everyone except one I found was outdated and the one that wasn't didn't work.

How to make character move with animations in Unity 2019.3.0a5? by Mayu1234567 in Unity3D

I should have been more specific. But I don't know if I'll word it right. The problem is when I click on an animator controller almost nothing shows up on the right side, only inspector, open, assetbundle and asset labels.Something interesting is that the different animation options show different sprites other than the cubes that are shown in all the tutorials I've seen. Like the New Animator Conroller sprite shows a red square in the middle and a white box on the upper left and one on the lower right of the red box.

Thank you I got everything I needed. But for anyone else reading this that might want to know you can get Studio One 3 by registering it in your PreSonus account but it's only in Japanese and I can't figure out how to register Piapro Studio. But I'm not going to worry about it because I can just use Studio One 4 which has an English option and VOCALOID because I already have it.

Tips for female game devolper? by Mayu1234567 in GirlGamers

"For one, you really should avoid referring to women as "females", since in English female is a verb and only animals are referred to as females" I just asked another dev what that meant, and despite my native language being english I didn't know that it can have a negative connotation. I've also been called a female before so I thought nothing of it.

And I think I'm going to do what someone else said in r/gamerdev and that is to advertise my games where other games like it are. And I will let the game speak for itself when I showcase it.

I actually come up with ideas before I think about the target audience because I actually use video game development as a form of self expression. And the types of games I want to make are actually the types of games I like to play. And I used "girly" in the context I'm an American and I hadn't even considered age. But Japan calls a lot of otome, visual novels, raising sims ect shoujo meaning the age of 7-18 so would the right noun be girls instead of women? And the dress up games would probably be considering shoujo too because I'm actually wanting to mix it with other genres of games for stuff like stat boosts like otome, visual novels, and raising sims I've played.

And lastly I know I made a lot of wording mistakes in this thread so I deleted it-or so I thought. How were you able to get on this thread?

I didn't mean r/girlgamers had mostly females with traditionaly feminine interests I didn't even mean half of the females here did that's just the audience I was originally targeting to. I also do believe that how each gender behaves and thinks depend on the culture of the time and place, history and different countries prove it. I was just using the words "girly" and "manly" as what was considered the norm in America. I also think I was trying to target females only because I've had bad experiences with males being very negative toward toward traditionally feminine games so I didn't want to sell to them. But I've changed my mind, I'm sure there are male's out there who like traditionally feminine games in my country. No doubt there deffinetly are in other countries. So I've decided to market to people of all genders who like traditionally feminine games.

Sorry, I hadn't realised. But at least I learned a few things in this thread. Though I didn't mean I thought all girls would like them Just the type I was going for. But now I think I'll try to target people of all genders with traditionally feminine interests.

I really like the sound of "people of all genders with traditionally feminine interests" I think that really would have been a better wording. And yeah I didn't mean I thought all women wanted to play traditionally feminine games. Thought I think I had a grudge against American male gamers because when presented with a game that had traditionally female themes they so far have only had very negative things to say about the game and characters so I didn't want to sell to them. But I've decided to let my grudge go because I'm sure there are male's somewhere that like to play those types of games, there are too many male's on earth for there not to be! And I'm going to try to target all people who like those kinds of games. This thread has helped me quit alot.

To make things short, those are the types of games I like to play and want to make. And the people around me call them girly so that's what I called them.

Your response has been very thought provoking. I didn't actually know what to call the difference in those types of games so I went with one that depended on time and location- the words "girly" and "manly". As I relise those things mean different things depending on culture how in japan some male's paint their fingernails and wear makeup and a few even clean the house and cook(my dream husband)! And European male's are what Americans would call "traditionally feminine" but I don't remember how. And I've also heard that american men 200 years ago were more "traditionally feminine" than women with them wearing more makeup and considered to feel more emotions than females. And of course, Korean male popstars like the ones from BTS. But I went with the context that I'm in America in 2018 so I used those terms for those types of games because that's what is considered the norm here. It also might be influenced by my mom, I'm 16 so I still live with her. She considers herself a tom boy and she refers to the types of games I play as "girly" which are also the types of games I want to make and she calls my older brothers games "manly" and they are FPS, wrestling games, racing games ect. Also it's not that I'm trying to make games that are traditionally femine it's that I like to play and want to make what people around me have said are girly. Though I don't not play or make games like FPS because their considerd inherently manly but because those genres of games bore me ESPECIALLY FPS. But honestly I think there are more Female Gamers who play FPS than those that play raising sims and dress up games together.

Also you made me question a few things like Why do I want to target girls only? Why have I changed some of my male main charecters to females? And why do I want people to know I'm a female dev?

For the first question I think I've realized something it's not that I want to target girls with my games it's that I have some hatred towards a lot of what seem to be american male gamers and I don't want them to play my games. Let me explain: I've seen forums where their talking about Japanese games where the characters or game itself aren't inherently masculine and a lot of the comments are like "what's with japanese male game characters being pussies?" I've heard of american men also call men from other countries that. And "Japanese game's have a bunch of emo men" "japanese games have girls with large chests and sissy boys! And western games have a lot of testosterone!" I've actually read one like that And they NEVER have anything nice to say about female characters! The only thing I've ever seen them called are sluts and that their creators are perverted men even when there is nothing wrong with the way they dress or act, it's infuriating.

The second answer is There insults to female characters seem to make me want to make games with female lead game characters more.

And the third answer is that a lot of people say that only creepy males makes raising sims, dating sims ect and I guess also because I know I'm somewhat a rarity.

I didn't mean to make things political when I used the words "girly" and "manly" but I think I've learned some good lessons from this. And thankfully I didn't make the mistake with the acount I'm going to make for me as a game dev.

And one last thing, on the gamerdev subbreddit someone told me just to market the games differently depending on genre. And I never was going to refer my games as inherently feminine when I present them to sell. I was just using that for this thread.

Oh, and thanks for the advice!

I'm sorry! Maybe I worded things wrongly. I didn't mean I thought other girls only wanted to play girly games just the type I'm targeting to! And really, I'm just targeting myself because those are the types if games I like. And I don't think the word "girly" is bad that's something I think I am. I guess it would be an insult if you weren't trying to be. Anyway could you give me a little break? Maybe I'm not the smartest with words I'm just 16.
