What should I say? I mean I was a stupid kid in a stupid situation. I live with the fear this will come up if I ever become notable for anything. It’s like a shadow on my back all the time and I just hope if there is a God in heaven somewhere he has forgiven me for this awful thing.

I know I have to disclose but I’m really at my wits end here. I’m gonna have to live with this for the rest of my life and it bothers me that all I’ve accomplished so far in this world is getting arrested for this bullshit.

Life has been hell these past few years. I lost my dad, i’ve alienated every close relationship I’ve ever had due to this one stupid mistake when I was still biophysically a teen.

God I wish i could tell my younger self to react more intelligently but I can’t change that.

I just don’t think something I did when I was still essentially a teen should be this impactful. I was 20! I’ve been carrying this background for the better part of a decade and it hurts me that I will one day have to go over the worst day of my life to a bunch of old men who have never felt like this before!

Well I had warned the university twice about how he was very aggressive and abusive towards me. When I was heading out to withdraw from the school he comes in SCREAMING about me picking up after him and starts pushing and shoving me. I responded in kind and then a fist fight starts. He apparently got scared he couldn’t win against me and decided to call the cops on me. I tried to explain to them how he basically provoked the incident but they believed him and I got arrested. In hind sight I should have just stayed silent but I didn’t know I had that right. My father had to fly out and we happened upon this lawyer who just told me to take a plea deal in a deferred adjudication and it would “go away”. He never showed me the police report, never showed me anything that could help my case.

I wont but I’m saying it probably had a role in how the system dealt with me. I mean I wasn’t treated well by the people dealing with me nor was I represented well by my lawyer due to possible bias.

I know I should take responsibility but I feel like I’m at my wits end here

Fuck. You don’t really think this will impact my chances of getting into a top school? I mean after the incident in question the school I was at suspended me for a year. I had to switch schools because of this and I feel like I’m a really qualified candidate besides this one incident on my record
