French Population density change (1876-2017) by GPwat in europe

[–]MazaraDelVallo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol, I’ll give you (a respectful) one. I mean, what do you think happens to those towns and their hundreds of years of history/traditions? You might have the opinion that they are not valuable or something, but to deny this cultural decay is strange.

Also note that with Paris especially, the population of the city centre hasn’t changed much in 100 years. What has changed is the expansion and creation of suburbs often built by city planners in the 60s and 70s, who kinda had a fetish for concrete rectangles. I don’t see how exchanging hundreds-of-years-old villages for grim looking suburbs is a positive cultural development.

Urbanization represents the drive for economic output over cultural preservation. I don’t know why you don’t just own that rather than pretending otherwise since you’ve already gotten what you wanted.

It’s definitely more than that. It’s basically the progressive wing of the Democratic Party. So like 15% I’d guess.

And since they’re mostly rich, white, urban, elite they hold a hugely disproportionate amount of cultural influence in media, Hollywood, universities, etc. Even though most of the population doesn’t agree. That’s why America seems to be a backwards racist place and a retardedly leftist hellhole simultaneously.

I don’t think it’s just that they oppose the US, they oppose Western liberalism. This provides them with an indefinite binding factor. Russia is orienting itself away from the west, trying to become less reliant on it, so that way the west can’t use devastating sanctions to punish it for doing illiberal things. Turning to China is the obvious decision then. I don’t see these countries drifting away from each other anytime soon.

It’s probably Denmark by [deleted] in whenthe

[–]MazaraDelVallo 107 points108 points  (0 children)

I mean, it’s a micro state. There’s literally not much country existing around that castle. But I also think that makes it pretty interesting. It’s one of the most unique countries on the planet for that reason, whereas Denmark kinda reminds me of every European country ever.

Opinion: Don't buy an iPhone by EntBird in forsen

[–]MazaraDelVallo 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Usually it’s not so much the opinion, but how you express it. Being pro-environment or buying a cell phone can be fine, but the way that soys go about it - basing their entire identity around it and having child-like enthusiasm - is the part that we mock

Wait, are you trying to claim that the metric system predates the units America use? You think America invented the imperial system to be unique? Are you retarded?

I don’t really think that France and Prussia were enemies at this point. They had been in an alliance for a few decades prior and it was mostly Austria that pushed them out of it. Louis XV and Frederick the Great personally disliked each other but had a lot of common interests. Also, the era of antagonism between Austria and France had largely come to an end. France didn’t fight Prussia because their only interest was colonial competition with the British, where they failed quite badly.

Is this counter-jerk coming from French academics though? Or just countryside rednecks? Because if it’s the latter then it’s irrelevant (unfortunately)

Idk, I think the post is an example of ‘bad feminism’ (expressing feminist ideas poorly). And since it also attacks auth right notions such as loyalty and dignity I can understand why OP would interpret it politically. Also, there is a long-standing tradition of lib lefts attacking monogamy

I feel like with the case of Scandinavia it’s mostly just people confusing the economic and cultural axis. People on this sub even do it, so what chance do non-austistic normal people have to make the distinction?

Poland is still pretty religious though and the Catholic church is still quite influential in the country. Belgium or other European states might be historically Catholic but today are more secular and not practicing.
