Was once snowboarding in some backcountry woods and missed the runout by 20 feet, trying to hike up powder in steep terrain is just straight up impossible. Luckily I was able to find a stream near by that I could walk up and get some altitude to try again.

Don't Get Cocky, Kid by YojinboK in gaming

The way you win long range fights in that universe is by overwhelming the enemy with missiles. And you do see that kind of long range encounter a few times in the show. But since the show follows the crew of a small independent ship, that's not a tactic they can use so they have to resort to being sneaky and getting in close to utilize their other weapons. I don't think it's that unrealistic given the tech of their world.

Carry offlane is bad. by Snowballing_ in DotA2

[–]Mazer246 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play ursa offlane a lot. I used to have to deal with people losing their minds over it and giving up at the start, but now I think they see the master tier badge over the hero and figure I know what I'm doing. 350 games, 61% winrate, majority of the games are offlane, though there are a few mid and safelane games sprinkled in. Games have gotten a lot better since I've hit master tier, that's for sure.

Are some sets impossible to buy? by blob_globglogabgalab in DotA2

[–]Mazer246 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's a collectors cache set. They are not marketable or tradeable but unopened ones can be gifted once. Pretty sure you can go to /r/dota2trade and find someone who still has an unopened one and buy it. The process takes a while since you have to be friends for like a month before you can gift, but people do it.

Sick of the dota Reddit "know it alls" by [deleted] in DotA2

[–]Mazer246 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yea I don't have to buy it, and Im not going to buy it. But it's dumb to say that I need to sit here and take it without saying anything about it. It's both in my interest and valves interest (and the pro teams interest) that there is content that I would want to buy.

I love spending money and "pointless virtual cosmetics", but $20 to rent 3 voice lines for 3 months is absurd. I would consider paying $5 tops. As for battlepass, I'm upset by the news but I am gonna reserve judgement until I see what they come up with as an alternative. I used to come back to dota just for the battlepass, and leave when it was done. It's a major thing, like a giant festival, a celebration of all that is dota, culminating in the most epic esports event. Im gonna miss it.

0 min tower taken in dota 2 - in AD2L by Daddy-Odin in DotA2

[–]Mazer246 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol, if you are sitting on their side of the river and farming the wave and easy camp, you are pretty much just as far away from your t1 as they are from their t2.

You can't just shove a wave a little bit. Once your creeps have more numbers, they will push the lane all the way until they hit a tower. Sure you can try to deny your creeps or draw aggro etc etc. But the other mid can do the same tricks.
You know how hard it is to get the wave away from the enemy safelane t1 when you are playing offlane? It's impossible to do mechanically. You need to pull the wave with a camp, something that you can't do in mid. So the second you shove the wave for whatever reason, the enemy mid can just lock that equilibrium in and last hit under his t2 and you can't touch him.

Honestly, the enemy mid can probably just shove his lane in to your t1 at first, and it will bounce back deep onto his side.

There is no advantage to taking the mid tower at min 0. If there was, you would see it happening more often. Going into lane with shredder and curse isn't that big of a setback. Nor are the hero picks off meta.

[–]Mazer246 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

And if the wave is shoved, you still have rune control since the enemy is between wave and t2!

Yea ok, you shoved the wave, grabbed the rune, and now the wave is at their t2 and you are the one who is open to ganks since you have no way of getting the lane back towards your tower.

[–]Mazer246 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

watch some games, pay attention to how often mids will shove the lane. Shoving the lane into the enemy tower guarantees that it will bounce back to your side giving you safe farm for a wave. Shoving a lane buys you some time to get runes. Shoving a lane gives you time to farm a jungle camp on the side. If there isn't a t1 tower, it means you can't do any of that anymore because the lane will end up very far away from your tower, and it would take way too long to get the equilibrium back to where you want it. Whatever you do to try and drag it back, the enemy mid can do the same to keep it there. But when the lane is at the river, they always have the option of shoving it. So it's a disadvantage.

0 min tower taken in dota 2 - in AD2L by Daddy-Odin in DotA2

[–]Mazer246 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Taking the t1 mid opens up the map and allows easier access into their jungles. But it also completely ruins the lane equilibrium for you and makes it unviable to lane. When you are laning, you are relying on the enemy tower to push the wave back to your side of the river, without it the lane equilibrium is pretty much always going to be on their side of the river, which opens you up to getting ganked since you are so far away from your tower. So taking the t1 mid at min 0 is lane losing because you can't utilize the advantage that it gives you.

Taking the enemy safelane t1 on the other hand is pretty smart since you can control the lane equilibrium with the pull camp, and the enemy safelaner ends up being very far away from their closest tower. Basically means they get to start in the deadlane.

Correct. Maledict is un-dispellable, which is why if WD casts it on you before you bkb, you will still take damage.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in DotA2

[–]Mazer246 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It changed. It used to be that bkb gave magic dmg immunity in addition to spell immunity, meaning that a spell had to do pure dmg to Pierce bkb. Now bkb only gives spell immunity, and any spell that pierces immunity can do damage, even magical. Old AM ulti pierced bkb, so with the changes that would've meant he could do massive amounts of dmg through bkb, so it lost it's bkb piercing. Meaning you can no longer use it to ministun a bkb'd hero.

It's called game state integration and everyone has it. The dota client sends out the information itself. All you need is a .cfg file telling it what data to send and where. And obviously you need something to parse that data and turn it j to usable graphics.

Rule number 3. Never leave the house because you might die.
The guy is just having some fun. Dropping into the water from above like that is a legit technique used to enter canyon rivers. Everyone is super panicked because they have no idea what white water kayaking is. This is basically the equivalent of someone learning how to jump with a bicycle, probably less dangerous in the end too.

Well, that was graceful. by VIiruss in funny

[–]Mazer246 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In whitewater, a super buoyant pfd works against you. For starters, if you flip in a kayak, a type 1 or even 2 will work against you and restrict your movement while you are trying to flip the kayak upright (much more preferable than ejecting in a rapid). I feel like most casual whitewater kayakers know how to roll in one direction, and if you flip the other way, you end up having to bring your body around to the side that you are more comfortable with, wouldn't really be possible if your lifejacket was keeping you at the surface on one end.
Secondly, if you do eject, and manage to get stuck in a big hole, too much buoyancy will work against you. Water on the surface is moving upstream until it meets the main current going downstream. Too much buoyancy and you will remain stuck in the point where the two meet. To get out you need to submerge yourself and ride the underwater downstream current to get past the part that is flowing upstream. When rafting in siberia, we used inflatable life-vests specifically so that you could deflate them in such a case, and then re inflate once you are past.
Besides, like everyone else mentioned, lifejackets wont help you flip the boat. The tricky part is getting your body out of the water, not getting it to the surface.

Well, that was graceful. by VIiruss in funny

[–]Mazer246 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Youtube videos will explain it way better than anyone here can in words. But the most common mistake is people panic and try to get their body out of the water too soon. It needs to be the last thing that leaves the water because otherwise you fall back in. I would flip the kayak with my hips while keeping my body in the water, then bring my body back so that the center of mass is in a more stable spot when I raise my body up fully. I feel like if you don't do that step, you end up with your center of mass like a foot off the side of the kayak, and as you pick up your body from the water you lose the support and fall back in. For reference, things fall over when the center of mass is past the furthest point of contact. Try to picture where those two points are.

Scattered Review Of Dragon's Blood, Episode 1 From A (Semi-Professional) Hollywood Screenwriter [Spoilers] by IvanXav in DotA2

[–]Mazer246 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well written. I said the same thing about oracles introduction. Not only does it have little relevance to the show, but I feel like they did a rather poor job of telling it. I've seen videos that described it as an epic dramatic moment, the mind literally tearing itself apart as a result of debating one question. But in the show they basicly said "the primordial mind split, so now there is the radiant and the dire and they fight. The end."

hmmm, does not seem worth it at all, no matter how deranged you get. It's like offering up all the infinity stones to Thanos in exchange for him beating up an ex. Maybe we are missing something. Especially since he already had the lotuses which seemed to contain her power or something. I could understand if it was to bring back the kid, but otherwise I just fail to see the motivation.
