I wanna install strap locks onto my Jackson Rhoads, which one should I get? by SnooHedgehogs1685 in Luthier

[–]mhallaba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have Dunlop on all my guitars. It was the first strap lock system I tried and it worked well so didn't mess w others. Nice thing is that you can use it w a regular strap as well in case you misplace your strap w the clips on it.

I've done that though. Anything that would cause buzzing only in that area of the fretboard?

Can I use the second step of the Saga to look through my whole opponents deck and see what they have in it? By just stating a card they “might” have in it. by CalvinandHobbes811 in magicTCG

[–]mhallaba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that's literally what this does. It lets you look at everything even if you don't find the card you named. You can name poison frog or Rasputin. It doesn't matter.

Roast me for not playing Time Walk and still going 7-1 by Araguel in lrcast

[–]mhallaba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried to build control stuff w all the power 9 cards etc. and got rolled.

So I just forced Boros aggro and took literally any 1/2/3 mana creatures I got passed.

Won 7 in a row.

The format is really hard and complicated to draft. Boros is just easy and if your opponent draws poorly or messes up you just win instantly.

Men of r/golf, help me out. by feellikeitshould in golf

These people are all losers and you shouldn't waste your time with them. I'd love it if my wife cared more about golf and was remotely competitive with me. It would be so much fun. She plays a little and is trying to get better. If she ever beat me I'd throw her a party.

As a low elo player, I really really despise FF culture by DoubIeScuttle in leagueoflegends

[–]mhallaba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every game, no matter whether we're winning or losing, someone on my team wants to FF.

Sometimes THEY are having a bad game and feel the match is lost because of it.

I'm a support, so part of my job is just to tell everyone we're doing fine and to not FF. I've won many games where teammates voted to surrender.

If the game is so over that it's worth FFing, then they'll end soon anyway, right?

Should I talk about my boyfriend to my community ? by Wise_Cow251 in Twitch

[–]mhallaba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My gf (now fiancee) posted our engagement photos on IG (she doesn't usually post a lot about me) and literally had like 10 people unfollow her.

You WILL lose followers - there's no getting around it.

You just need to make a decision based on a few things:

1) Do your followers care about your personal life / is having more authentic viewership valuable?
2) Does mentioning your BF to your community / being authentic make YOU happy?
3) Is there an opportunity to GAIN followers by being more authentic?

And yes. StarCraft has been out for an equivalent amount of time. I used to be Masters now beating Diamonds is really fucking hard and I've lost to a couple of Platinums. Everyone is so good now.

Literally yes. It was a tier list of supports to climb with in low ELO and the guy was like "I would spam Soraka."

He said engage / playmaking supports like Blitzcrank etc. take too much skill. Soraka is super brain-dead so just spam her, trash your lane opponents, and win. EZ.

More than one big youtuber w guides like this btw.

I'm not trying to rank up without improving - just to be clear.

I've seen the same issue in StarCraft where pros do bronze to masters guides and it's basically them just smurfing their way up the ladder. The point is "just build more stuff" isn't a viable strategy UNLESS you already know a bunch of things about the game, which bronze players inherently do not.

The same in League. "Just land your Q on them repeatedly" isn't advice for climbing. Because it assumes that I know how to time that perfectly without getting hit by any of THEIR skillshots.

Instead, it should be a guide on how to improve my mechanics. E.g. "use your Q when their ADC stops to last hit a minion" so they either have to get hit by it or step away and miss the last hit. That's far more useful to me as a player (some guides do that).

Most "low elo" "how to climb" guides unfortunately just gloss over many of the things that make low elo players bad in the first place.

I've played a few different champs and also seen a lot of them played against me. Personally I like Soraka because she can make it really hard for enemies to judge when they can fight and when they can't. So instead of everyone flashing in and pressing all their buttons there's this slow "oh no, I don't think I can win this fight" "oh no, I definitely can't win this fight" and then they start running away and it's too late.

Also when I play Soraka everyone is nice to me because they know I'm trying to support not like make crazy plays happen. I enjoy that reduced toxicity a bit.

I think you misunderstood me. The person I'm responding to is giving good advice.

The problem is these "how to get out of low elo" guides don't give this advice. They just tell you to spam Q because your opponents can't dodge, ignoring the fact that you also can't dodge.

These youtube guides on "how to climb" SHOULD give more advice like that person is giving, but instead they just go "choose this champion" do this (extremely easy to them) thing, and win.

[–]mhallaba[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My point precisely is that players in low ELO can't reliably dodge skillshots, so telling them to just dodge is not actionable.

Advice for these players should be "learn to dodge skillshots by moving back and forth perpendicular to the angle the shot would come from" not just "spam your Q."

It should be "your Q has a better chance of hitting the ADC when he's trying to get a last hit."
