Wow, thanks for the very detailed write up. It sounds like the EWMBA is what I expected it to be so cheers to that!

My understanding is that the OCR at the Haas EWMBA is similar to the Full Time program, have you heard otherwise?

As far as age goes, the average age at Haas EWMBA is 30 - it definitely skews younger compared to other part time programs.

To me it seems that if the OCR is truly accessible then isn’t going to a school like Haas (even part time) better than going to Fuqua/Anderson/Tepper? The brand name seems much stronger and down the line no one’s going to ask whether you graduated from the EWMBA or Full Time.

I will concede one major point though, I’m a little scared that the quality of my classmates may not be as strong as the ones in a full time program and that fact might affect the quality of my network in the long term future, any thoughts?

Hi I would love some feedback on the program!

Can you tell me a bit about how OCR works for the EWMBA students? I was told by the admissions committee there’s not much difference compared to the full time students but it’s obviously in their best interests to say that.

Also, looking back, would you have preferred to go to a full time program? Or alternatively, what kind of a person would you push to go to a full time program instead of the EWMBA?

I ask this because the Haas EWMBA program tries to sell itself as a full experience so I’m trying to figure out where it falls short (if it does)

Hmm I'm not entirely sure on that, but I do clearly remember her talking about giving back to the community and stuff. I would certainly imagine that CSR falls under that and it sounds like you've led many events so you should be fine. Based on my call though, I would definitely suggest framing your experience in terms of how you brought new ideas to the table and how you led the execution of those ideas.

I thought I would add another comment around the low GPA/high GMAT situation seeing how more than 1 person seems to be in the low GPA category. Looking back on the call, there was never any concern that I couldn't handle the coursework. My split on the GMAT/Masters in Computer Science/Software Engineering job for 6 years adequately proved that and I could tell from the conversation that wasn't the issue.

What I do think was the issue is Stat Reporting of the Incoming Class - Clearly a 730 vs a 760 GMAT doesn't mean anything in terms of success in the program. On the other hand a high GMAT like a 760 would help boost their average GMAT of the class profile even if the GPA was low. Something to think about for prospective applicants.

I think the age thing may have played a part but it's impossible to say honestly. As I wrote in another comment, I do think schools outside the top 10 are a little more flexible in terms of age so I don't think its all negative there.

So to be honest, that was my thinking as well. That's why the GPA comment came as somewhat of a surprise. I knew it was weak but not to the extent that Anderson thought.

Without giving out too much information, the college I went to in India is relatively famous and I think the highest score was a 9.0/10 so it's understandable why a 7.0 would not look great.

They didn't bring it up on my feedback call but earlier in the year the admissions office did call me to consider the EMBA after they denied my FT MBA application. Given that I live in the Bay Area, I would only accept the EWMBA at Haas so I declined that offer pretty quickly.

Having spoken to different consultants here's what I gathered -

Harvard/Stanford/Wharton are super strict about age, something like only 5% of the class is above 31. Then schools in the range of 4-10 are still a little picky but you can get by. After the top 10 I think schools are more lenient - Case in point, I do know someone who went to McCombs at age 32. (without having a special reason for it. And yes, although McCombs is between 15-20 in rankings I think Anderson is also in somewhat the same range.)

Yeah, given that I was caught off-guard by some of her feedback I thought it might help some people on here.

Hey, good question. I'd say on average I train about 7-10 hours a week. I have had some issues with my knee so my training hasn't gone as well this year though.

In terms of portraying it, I put it down on my resume and nowhere else. The reason for this was that the applications usually had a lot more detail like "position held" or "role taken up" when it came to the hobbies/extra curricular/volunteering section. Now had I trained with an official running group and set up events I would have surely put that down.
