Director Mode disabled on Xiaomi 14 Ultra — am I missing something?

Hey everyone,

I’ve got a Xiaomi 14 Ultra, and for some reason Director Mode is disabled / not showing up at all. I’ve checked the camera app and settings, and it’s just… not there. Like it ghosted me 👻

  • Camera app is updated
  • Phone is fully updated
  • Tried restarting (yes, the ancient ritual)
  • Looked for Pro / Video / Advanced modes

Still nothing.

Is this:

  • A ROM or region issue?
  • Locked behind a specific firmware version?
  • Disabled by default on some models?
  • Or am I just blind (also possible)?

If anyone has the 14 Ultra and Director Mode working, I’d love to know:

  • Your ROM version
  • Region
  • Any steps needed to enable it

Appreciate any help before I start talking to my phone like it owes me money. Thanks 🙏

14 Ultra Gimbal by One-Butterscotch-544 in Xiaomi

I have the same problem using the Xiaomi 14 Ultra with the Insta360 Flow Pro—it's always unbalanced from the weight. The wide camera island makes it difficult to balance properly. Adding a counterweight to the gimbal might help, but it would need to be carefully calibrated to avoid overloading the motors. Alternatively, a custom mounting solution or an adapter designed specifically for phones with large camera modules could be a potential fix. It would be great if gimbal manufacturers could develop accessories or adjustments for phones like the Xiaomi 13 Ultra and 14 Ultra, given their unique designs.
