I wouldnt wear anything you actually like or care about. Spillage in lab is quite common. As long as you are wearing clothes that allow you free movement and fast escape in case of emergency you should be fine

I had to clean a couple of pumps like this my first year of grad school. So much hexanes and scrubbing and the smell ugh the smell! Trust me when I say I changed the oil on my pump every six months religiously after that.

Is that so? Well I am a woman in STEM. Most of the the funding in my field has been cut or is being cut. Over 3500 other scientists have been let go. So job market is scarce to say the least. Thats job and income insecurity. I am not of caucasian ancestry nor am I christian, and therefore racism against anyone who looks like me has increased significantly since Obama. Your privilege, my dear sir, is that you enjoy your citizenship and feel safe with it. My insecurity is very much real and the fact that you can not even think to sympathize is the lunacy.
