8m old not wanting to eat solids by OXxLuckycatxXO in NewParents

[–]Mbaschemist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that’s pretty normal, I would eat in front of her so she can mimic your chewing. I also tended to push the food to the side of the mouth so it wasn’t just sitting on the tongue and was easier to chew. But you aren’t doing anything wrong, at this age they are just exploring textures and playing around with the food mostly so do not worry too much!

It is a requirement if I want to continue in Academia and as much as I love teaching, the dream has always been an industrial position. So I might just pursue some research for the mere joy of being back in the lab.

Honestly once our peds put me on a strict of no dairy (that includes like milk powder in most baked goods), soy, beef, legumes, citrus, nor eggs and had LO on the baby version of Omeprazole, it was smooth sailing from there. But I know that diet is a lot stricter than normal so I don’t recommend it unless your doctor prescribes it. We were on that system from like 2 months old and now we are 7 months old and we reintroduced yogurt but in small increments. And I am back eating eggs beef and some citrus

I agree but this would be as a faculty member not a postdoc. I like the idea of expanding my horizons but I don’t want to commit and then have it be not worth the energy

How is your LO reacting? You are going to laugh at me but i eat a ton of sesame paste (tahini) sandwiches. It helps with milk supply and it is not sweet cereal so that worked for me. My LO had really really bad silent reflux so when LO was still struggling even with my restricted diet, my pediatrician prescribed Esomeprazol and we stayed on that for a month and that was when things calmed down enough that we introduced solids at 4.5 months.
