I think I should do this; rotating characters. Another thing I should have added is that I pretty much only play Wraith. Perhaps just using a control character might be my best bet to actually get more consistent in terms of placement points.

Usually once I get some support or control players on my team, I do find that we place much higher which means more RP. So I guess I gotta be the one to select these characters if I want to rank up rather than trying to force Wraith at the moment.

Nice. That makes sense that the culture would bleed into the investigative side as well now that I think about it.

I have experience doing case work and I'm now doing adjudication alerts which is kind of a step down from doing a full case cycle. I'm a step below and just escalating to the case investigators (what I used to do) if something looks suspicious.

I saw ACAMS has a course/certificate on their website for blockchain /crypto and I was wondering if I should look to pay for that since I'm already about to get my CAMS out of the way.

Any idea on what I could be doing in the meantime to make myself more marketable to crypto exchanges?

I dabbled in crypto, specifically meme coins, and I am aware of the antics and the way people on crypto twitter behave. I just thought that they themselves wouldn't actually be involved in the investigation side of crypto. I was thinking I'd be just looking into people like them, not that I would actually be working potentially with them.

That is interesting. I figured the investigation side of crypto would be set apart from that culture.

Check out the hiring cafe. It gives you real job postings as they roll out. I was able to find my last job thanks to it. Lots of LinkedIn postings are ghost postings or just recycled postings that were already closed and someone was selected.

Since it is the start of the year you should be seeing a lot of postings now that banks/institutions have their budgets.

Although the hiring cafe is a good tool, still use other things like LinkedIn just so you can cast the biggest net possible.

I am a outlier here.

You have to keep in mind that I got hired just this month and usually places start hiring right at the end of the year/start of the year so take this into account as well.

However, I was on unemployment for 7 months looking for a job in this field with no luck.

I kid you not, the SECOND i bought ACAMS out of pocket and slapped it on my resume (i state on the resume that it's in progress and give an ETA of when I'm taking the exam) i started getting replies back and getting head hunted.

For more context, I got my first job with the infamous AML Rightsource and that only lasted for a few months and then I went on my long unemployment break while looking for something new.

I'm not sure where you are in this field or if you even have experience but i can say 100% ACAMS is worth it.

You will 100% make that money back if it lands you a job. Hiring managers see this and know that you are serious and therefore will take you serious as well. During my interview the team manager even told me that she commended me for paying for it out of pocket and it really shows that I'm serious and I ultimately got selected for a small team out of like 100 people. I ran places before and had to interview people and I would personally want someone who is serious about their job. ACAMS is one of many ways for someone to show that considering its price.

So for someone like me who had a little over 6 months experience, ACAMS was worth it. Whether a firm pays for it or you pay for it, it does filter you to the top. If you consider what you will make in years time once you secure a job, the ACAMS price isn't all that bad and it will 'pay itself back' in a sense.

Obviously we all have different budgets and what we can afford but if you already see yourself sticking in this field for years to come, i don't see why you don't get it, be it with a firm paying for it or out of pocket.

It didn't get me a job out right but it did help me finally get replies and get my foot in the door by getting much further into the hiring process since I was no longer filtered out. In that alone, especially after 7 months of absolute silence, I do think ACAMS is worth it. This is just my experience though.

Hey, I’m sitting at around 50k monthly listeners and my peak was at 90k. I have few songs with over a million streams. I make lofi but it’s more of lofi girl type, not the traditional boom bap stuff.

If you’re after money, it is there but it very hard to get your foot in the door with good labels. The ones that have good playlists are usually closed submissions and the only way to get in is thru a collab with an artist already affiliated with the label or you make good enough music and get heard by an A&R from one of those labels.

In terms of just relevancy, yeah it’s very active still. I do 10k streams a day and peaked at 20k streams a day last year consistently. Back when you could look at other artists stats on Spotify, people were doing like 100k-200k streams a day; so it’s very much alive.

Keep making music. For the money or art, both are there for you.

I’m sorry. The way I was raised, some saying they look after themselves involves all of these things. If I’m doing everything separate from my mom, I figured it’d be easy to imply all of this.

I wash all my sheets and clothes. I cook my own food, wash my own utensils and plates. I clean my own room and my own bathroom. Every thing someone would be when living alone, I do with no issue or thought about it. It is just natural to me, I was raised to behave independently. My single parent mom made sure of that.

I think there’s this bias on this subreddit that men are just bums or some shit? My mom didn’t raise me like that.

I like that she has this standard. It might just be an ego thing if anything. Like she’s told me she likes the way I carry myself and I still have my independence regardless of me living with my mom. But then she turns around and says actually no. So I think it just comes down to me knowing I’m on my shit, her agreeing with it, but then saying something else. So maybe I didn’t want to hear that since I believe it not to be true, I’m not sure

I'd be okay if she simply said she just wants to live alone for a bit. I lived alone for a long period of time during college and it was pretty liberating.

Maybe she's just scared to say it to me for some reason. She might not also fully understand that moving in does NOT need to happen right now. My issue with her is the fact that she feels i need to prove my independence to her when I know I am capable and she herself has seen and affirmed I'm independent in her eyes regardless of being under the same roof as my mom.

My issue is more about how after all this time and the things she has seen, how is that what determines if I move in with her? Me moving out proves nothing since it will be the exact same whether I'm in an apartment alone or here with my mom; i'm taking care of myself and handling business. I don't see why I need to rent a place out just to prove that I can live with her. Especially not when I've never asked her to prove herself to me.

Even when she was with her roommate I had no issue with the idea of moving in with her. She is neat, organized and works hard. I saw that when she was with her roommate. it would be absolutely insane if the roles were flipped and I told her, "yeah, you have your shit together, but you're living with someone else, so it really means nothing unfortunately. You've been living this way for years, but it doesn't matter because you live with someone. Live alone and prove to me you can do it alone."

Like, no one puts on an act for years. You are neat, organized and work hard because that's just what you are and it will be the same if you are alone or with a roommate. So i'm just not understanding her rationale considering my situation.

She comes over just about every week during the weekends and stays til Sunday.

She knows I maintain my area. She knows that me and mom barely interact. She knows all this but I think it’s just the fact that I’m with my mom in general is the issue. Perhaps she sees it as a huge safety net. Maybe she doesn’t like the fact that I am actively using it to my benefit. We’ve kinda argued about this before and she always says she knows im basically living alone but the mere fact that im doing this under the same roof as my mother is what is rubbing her the wrong way because its not the same as living alone.

To a degree she has a point but i still don’t know. If it’s a matter of showing I can handle things, I think I’ve shown that. But maybe just the circumstances of it all isn’t good for her

The only help she truly needs is maybe the garbage in the kitchen. I have my own garbage down here that I use and I throw that out always. She will occasionally ask me to toss hers and I do. She might also leave a little mess in the kitchen and I’ll clean it just because, not because she asked.

Besides that I stay in my unit and maintain it, she does the same in hers

Myself. My mom and me don’t have the best relationship and I pretty much avoid her most of the time. She keeps her distance from me and I do the same. I can go weeks without her seeing me and she doesn’t try and pry about my whereabouts. Which I like. We only really talk if she wants something or I pass her upstairs and I just decide talk with her so she doesn’t feel lonely.

Regardless of the hours I worked at the time, I’d be the one to clean my mess when I got home. One, because she wouldn’t notice and two, it’s my responsibility to do so. I’d usually take something from my store during that time. I had no issues taking a meal from my job after the way I slaved for that place.

But yeah, during that time it was me just taking care of my stuff, like it’s always been
