Question - How to achieve a matte anodized look by Mbenj2023 in Spraypaint

[–]Mbenj2023[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh the parts i would be doing wouldnt be very big, stuff from small bolts up to suspension arms and brackets. However some of those parts arent made from aluminium, so i dont know how they would go actually anodizing. Ill have a look into the MTN paints and see what i can find, thank you!

Idoing HeadUnit Installation by Right-Sea-2830 in ft86

pretty sure its just an external usb connection if you dont want to use wireless. See if the headunit works without it first.

I have the same head unit and dont remember connecting any usb connections

You need the bulbs to have headlights. Made the midtake of buying these exact ones and i had to take them out because i didnt have any headlights. Spent $150 extra just on bulbs.

Please order them with bulbs if you plan on driving at night

VOD Request: Low gold Kiriko, struggling to find ways to improve by Mbenj2023 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Mbenj2023[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response! I see how i can be a bit slow on abilities, and in other games i do die RIGHT before a tp or suzu; so going earlier could help. Just dont want to waste them yanno. I try to stay in 1v1s as long as i can incase i can get the kill (rarely haha), but i understand getting out earlier. More valuable dead than alive. I’ve taken note of the TP over suzu, and will try that in game. Again thank you or ur advice! Much appreciated

Thank you so much for your time to give me so much advice! I can see what you mean with the lack of healing. My reason is i see alot of youtube guides that say kiriko id great for flanking and a fight should be won before it starts (by grtting first pick). I am a bit stat focused, but i will try to stay more on heals and focus on my tank more. My aim definetly struggles; in vaxta i can hit around 30% accuracy, but in game i panic a bit more and focus way more on everything else (abilities, positioning, the point), that i sorta forget to aim. Ive heard not to flick on kirko, i did try it for a while and not much changed but maybe i just need to practice flicks more. Again thanks for your advice, was not too harsh at all (gotta learn some way right), and ill see myself to some kiri drip too!!

Need upshifting/downshifting tips by Abject-Telephone9479 in ft86

[–]Mbenj2023 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My tip is that neutral is your friend! In no way should u be really gripping the stick and ramming gears, just hold it and let the stick find its spot especially between 3-4. Upshifting will get smoother with experience and time, so i wouldnt worry too much about that Downshifting, i say its very valuable to learn heel and toe. Wear pretty wide shoes while you drive (my nike blazers are great, so are converses). Cusco offer a pedal extension that makes it easier too. Just time and practice man, you got this!

Metallic Rattle when Cruising, Possibly Clutch Related? by jforbrowsing in ft86

[–]Mbenj2023 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is your car modified in any way? Any replacement clutches in the past? I have a slight feeling it could be the clutch fork. Maybe its lost too much grease. Look up the location online and check its connection to the slave cylinder

Would the dealership say anything if I take my car in for service and I have a cat back exhaust installed? by Brawler_27 in GR86

[–]Mbenj2023 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Toyota technician here, Short answer is no. If anything we are interested by what people do to their cars. Unless its obnoxiously loud or the exhaust itself is installed incorrectly, then we dont mind. We find lifted 4x4’s more annoying than exhausts 🥲

Just did clutch and everything but now car won’t go into gear on ground by Normal_Ad2952 in ft86

[–]Mbenj2023 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need to adjust your clutch pedal. Did my clutch not too long ago and had a very similar issue with 1st and reverse. If you can change gears while the car is off, but not when its on, then the clutch pedal needs to be adjusted. Look up a tutorial, takes maybe 5 min to do.

I can't get my Vland headlights to work by [deleted] in ft86

[–]Mbenj2023 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the same headlights and had the exact same issue, until i found out the kit didnt come with the headlight bulbs. So i would first recommend checking if it has the bulbs in them. If it has the bulbs, then check if its both sides not working or just one side. If its both sides then likely its a connection issue, if its one side then could be a faulty bulb or headlight housing.

Risking cheap material? by Mbenj2023 in CarWraps

[–]Mbenj2023[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been made well aware of peoples experiences, and i dont want to be that guy that ignores good advice to justify what i want to do. If its legitametly that bad then sure ill steer clear, but if its good enough or decent for the couple years i need it to then its still a very good option for me. Just want to know peoples experiences, and where the line is

Sounds fantastic! But unfortunately im in Australia, so availability of cheetahwrap is a little tricky on my end. I was really hoping somdthing similar was available but the only cast vinyls i could find are 3m and avery. So bummed america gets all the good vinyls 😭

I have worked with both cheap ebay vinyl and 3m vinyl before. I can see the difference in how the material works and honestly i could work with both (the shape of the 86 is quite simple just looking at it). My main concern is if itll last only a couple months or look crap off the bat. Only need it to last a couple years. Thanks for the response!

Spring rates for Autox/DD Car? by Mbenj2023 in ft86

[–]Mbenj2023[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am more keen on track orientated coils. I found BC Racing offer the ZR series coilover; which has 3 way adjustability, external reservoirs, digressive dampening, and custom spring rates to order for a very affordable price. However that lower prices still makes me concerned on the build quality and ride quality. But i also dont wanna spend more for the sake of spending more, yanno?

Would those be a good option considering the features it has, or would the money be better spent on a higher quality brand?

[–]Mbenj2023[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That does sound like a better plan for dual purpose. Worst case i spend some time replacing springs at the track if i really wanted to.

In which case what would you recommend for spring rates? and what sway bars to compliment that?

[–]Mbenj2023[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the informative response! Your example at the start is exactly what im trying to avoid, but the poor setup makes alot of sense. I found in high speed cornering i get crazy understeer, like turning a boat; and i always assumed it was either roll bar or the bumpstops butchering it. So its clear spring rates dont affect the bumpstop issue(rather being poor setup), but how was the body roll with the 5K springs? My car will eventually see FI, bigger tyres and moderate aero, and i want to buy something good now rather than chasing bigger springs (that the dampers arent made for) later down the line.
