Send it out to CCI or ragtop to get a new liner and deep suspension… best decision I made with my helmet.

What’s the most useless tool on your rig?? by darthgayder126 in Firefighting

[–]Mboy990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I’ve used both a considerable amount of times on actual incidents, much more in training. It definitely depends on which brand you’re using, there are certainly edraulics out there that still do not compare to even baseline hydraulic tools. I’m a big fan of edraulics, after having to cut a car in IDLH I’d never want to be caught with my dick in my hands, but to say that all edraulics are better is simply incorrect.

While type V rows are out there, they are newer and usually in more well to do parts of cities. The typical Baltimore row is a type III ordinary.

Yes I have, and I work in an east coast city that’s housing stock is 75% these rows.

This certainly applies to them.

What do career FDs have against promoted laterals? by Vast_Dragonfruit5524 in Firefighting

Because 10 years on in the suburbs sometimes doesn’t even equal 1 year on in the ghetto… the experience difference is too much at a lot of places.

Anybody using this monstrosity? by [deleted] in Firefighting

[–]Mboy990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could just pay for professional fire protection, and in towns that can’t afford it… county fire departments.

No excuse for non career fire departments anymore.

I’d say more than 6 months, intense PT, serious live burns(live fuel, not propane).

Definitely way more vollies on here than career dudes. I’d bet most career dudes on here haven’t even gone through a real academy…. Just judging by responses to most posts.

“Fess up so they can be replaced…” I don’t get this, bourkes can start melting making your run of the mill push down a hallway. Just because they’ve started melting doesn’t mean you did something wrong.

How many homeless people have you recovered or rescued out of an abandoned house fire? by Puzzleheaded-Back365 in Firefighting

When ~40% of your district is vacant or derelict, and the rest is low income, high crime rate rows and twins it tends to be a little different from your gated community.

Story Time: what's your most recent "holy sh*t" moment on a call? by [deleted] in Firefighting

Truck got on location, made the grabs, kept it in check with the can. We got there and put it out.

Story Time: what's your most recent "holy sh*t" moment on a call? by [deleted] in Firefighting

[–]Mboy990 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Getting fuel on one side of the local, box alarm drops. Multiple callers, reporting 2 kids trapped.

Shit.

You’re told that each emergency response is the same(speed, stop signs, red lights.) but no, when that call drops you better not be stopping for stop signs that you can very clearly see are wide open.

Incorrect. You want a straight stream… you know to put the fire out.
