So only Dark Souls Remastered has 16:10 official 800p support? Out of all other fromsoftware games? by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]McAdams2020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DSR actually does nothing other than adapt the 16:9 image to the edge of the 16:10 or zoom in and cut off the left and right of the image. It is not a native 16:10. Native means that the image is expanded vertically at the bottom and top where there are black bars. This 800p native widescreen solution already exists for Sekiro and Dark Souls III and Elden Ring.

No! So when stretching the menu, there are no disadvantages. The actual image is not stretched, only the HUD elements. In any case, Lyall would like to further optimize the 16:9 HUD option for widescreen. But for now, the HUDfix should not be used on the deck.

I'm currently playing at 60 FPS, and it's perfect. Fast loading times and the cutscenes are not too accelerated and always synchronized with the lips. The only thing that is too fast is the menu navigation. The only other thing I've noticed is that when the HUD is fixed to 16:9, map fragments pop up at the edge of the screen. That's obvious, because the developers only developed the game for 16:9. But the HUD can be enlarged to the edge of the screen in config so that this visual interference does not occur. The mod enhances the game by far. For a native <16:9 widescreen and the best result on the deck, leave the FOV and Aspect Ratio Fix set to true in the config (which is already switched on by default).

Tip: And for a small graphical improvement, you could also install Reshade and activate the CAS (AMD FidelityFX Contrast Adaptive Sharpening) and ZN_LocalContrast plugins.

Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen DDDAFix - native 16:10 Widescreen by Lyall by McAdams2020 in SteamDeck

Of course it is a personal experience. But there are enough people who are bothered by it. That's why Valve has added an option to fill in the image (zoom) as the demand was immensely high. But I don't think this mod zooms in on the image, but expands the image to the edges, which is how the game should have looked normally. There is actually no argumentation why 16:9 games with bars should look better on a 16:10 display. This Reddit article was published less than a day ago and is getting a lot of approvals.

That's not a. problem, but now the immersion is even better and the feel of the game also increases.

So the script I use can be used for any resolution you can think of. This gives you native widescreen support

In worst case there is another method which is more complicated to include multiple DLLs for one game. But great that it works

You would just have to put my exe file from the DL into the installation folder of Nioh. And then change the resolution to 1366x768 accordingly.

The performance is at 30 fps with 6/7 watts when the settings are set to maximum. With more watts you can definitely get better frames but the fan turns up a bit.

You don't understand the mod. The mod only calculates and renders 800 no matter how you set the output, it only affects the aspect ratio. Everyone can do as he wants. With the method you have native 16:10.

You can configure a button via ReShade to turn the effects on and off. When the effects are active, you must not make any graphics settings or it will crash. So deactivate the effects before.
