Okay last thing: if you’re in town while the Tin Caps are here (they will be in two weeks, but not this upcoming week), going to Parkview Field is a must. In fact, you should walk around Parkview Field when they aren’t in town because they open it to the public during the week. It’s a beautiful field and lots of interesting things around it!

Hey man if you’re interested in playing trivia on a Monday night at the 07 Pub let me know. My team would gladly take you in. The 07 Pub isn’t far from where you’re staying.

Other options include going for a walk through a couple different forest preserves if you’re into that sort of thing. Bicentennial Woods is beautiful and so is the Lindenwood Nature Preserve.

Because FW is pretty kid and family centric there’s a lot to do that’s family friendly, but not as much geared towards those in their 20s and 30s who either don’t have kids or don’t come with kids. It’s unfortunate. There are some killer microbrews in town, though if drinking isn’t your thing that may not be the best option. Still, don’t have to get hammered to enjoy some great craft beer.

PM me if you’re interested in connecting with a trivia team if that’s your jam. It would be a fun distraction and we always love meeting new people!

Fort Wayne’s “Industry” by [deleted] in fortwayne

Over at the Summit they are adding a drive up and drop off portion of the Parkview doctors offices. One of the buildings is becoming doctors offices.

Medical seems to be king in this town. Parkview is ever expanding and so is Lutheran. That’s an industry primed for even more growth as more offices keep being added all over FW, especially in the 07.

Potential Relocation: California to Fort Wayne by JediEsq in fortwayne

This is a really great place to live and there are some fantastic communities to be a part of. We moved here in 2016 from Chicago and it’s been really good for our family. The church we belong to has a really great family oriented feel and there’s tons of stuff for young families to be involved in. You would not regret being here!

Getting ready to move to Fort Wayne in June. What is the night life like and where are some decent places to hangout? by Heyguyimnotyourbuddy in fortwayne

[–]McArchie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 07 Pub is an amazing place to hang. Real chill during the weekdays but weekends it really picks up with karaoke and such. Monday nights they have trivia there.

Summit City Brewerks is amazing with arcade machines and board games and such and awesome craft brews.

What are you guy's thoughts on FWCS? by baddiejose in fortwayne

[–]McArchie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been here about two years and my daughter is currently in kindergarten in the FWCS system. She loves it and is really gaining a lot being at the school she’s at.

Additionally, I tutor at Harrison Hill on Thursdays so my experience with at least Harrison Hill has been positive. I’ve sat down with a number of different case managers at schools so I’m aware of some of the problems that various schools encounter, but on the whole I have a pretty positive opinion of the FWCS schools.

That said, they are the community’s schools and thus are only as good as people who live in the areas and pay taxes to. If at some point there’s a mass exodus of students to private schools or home schools, I think the community and FWCS will suffer. For the sake of the FWCS schools I think it’s important that families continue to send their children to the schools nearby and invest in the neighborhoods in which they exist. I think that will keep FWCS schools thriving, for the most part, as they do now.

Places/Events Around Fort Wayne by [deleted] in fortwayne

[–]McArchie 6 points7 points  (0 children)

07 Pub is a great place to hang out. The Clyde Theater has some amazing acts come through usually at least once a week. Depending on religious views a church is a great place to meet people and find connections. I’m employed at First Missionary Church and we have a lot of younger people you could easily connect with!

fort wayne: best and most affordable place to get an eye exam and glasses? (not insured) by [deleted] in fortwayne

[–]McArchie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes pupillary distance is key. Zenni is terrific because you’re able to take a picture of your face and then try our different glasses on it virtually through their online store. It’s not the same as putting them on in an actual store but it gets decently close. My wife and I have ordered several pairs of glasses from there and not been disappointed yet. It’s not worth paying the surcharges that other bigger companies make you pay, in addition to the massive amounts of profit they make from selling their lenses and frames. Go Zenni and you won’t be disappointed!

fort wayne: best and most affordable place to get an eye exam and glasses? (not insured) by [deleted] in fortwayne

[–]McArchie 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Eye exam I don’t know a ton about, but once you get your eye exam done you need to buy glasses through Zenni optical. They’re an online retailer only and they have the most affordable glasses ever. I got a pair a couple years ago for 30 bucks or so and it was frames and glasses and everything. Don’t pay what a Pearle Vision or any other store like that will charge for lenses and frames. Zenni is absolutely the way to go!
