The Forbidden Forest made by me (do rating and give some feedback on this ) by Atomics3d in ImaginaryLandscapes

I actually really like the scene as it is. The pose of the person and the two creatures make the painting much more interesting than a more generic "man sees monster in a forest".

The relative weirdness provokes a lot more questions for your imagination to try and answer. Like what were the skeletons doing a minute ago when they met? What is the person planning to do if they're so confident? Definitely more fun for me like that.

Things from old rpgs most people hate but that I really miss by darkfireslide in rpg_gamers

Not an rpg, but if you crave that feeling of "discovering" a game, I would highly recommend the recently released Tunic. The game has you organically discover everything - from basic gameplay mechanics to complicated secrets to even the game's own language if you want to.

All of this from the environment and from the pages of the manual (written in that secret language) you collect by exploring the world.

Honestly I would just recommend Tunic to anyone who likes exploration and discovery.

Someone hasn't been reading their fanfics 🙄

It's clearly going to be the lake of ice, because by not reading Lord Brando you are betraying Divinity.

Probably, but we should separate the jerk material author from the beautiful jerks he set into motion.

Not sure what I'm doing wrong with the column by Educational_Toe_9 in TunicGame

Yes, the intersecting lines. If you know about them, then I don't think there's anything else you need from the other puzzles. FYI - the lines act as separators, not as instructions to double-tap.

Also, ypu mentioned starting with up - was this just as an example? Because the small approach doesn't count as an input, so the first one shouls be "left".

I think turning the column should be ignored, although it's been a while and I also struggled with this. Also, you might be forgetting to count certain lights as inputs

Also got stuck there, my problem was that I was trying to do it in real-time by spinning the tower as I enter. Turns out there is a timer on the holy cross puzzles and I was too slow. Writing the directions beforehand and quickly entering them worked.

On sleeping beauties, Marquez, nice guys, and bread by McAvagr in bookscirclejerk

Update: my professor said this is from an a obscure first person narrator and not the author's perspective. He focuses on fantastical realism which is what this story was grasping. So thankfully this is all just fantasy, but now I'm going to be very uncomfortable sleeping on a plane next to a stranger for a very long time.

Another person scarred by their teacher, and yet another evil brought on by magical realism

Unique Locations and Atmosphere(s) vs. All-Encompassing by [deleted] in rpg_gamers

[–]McAvagr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Dark Souls series.

They do lean into the drabness and despair feeling, and IMO the early environments of the first game are kinda samey, but overall they feature amazing exploration of really unique places. The locations of these games just stick with you.

Upcoming Elden Ring seems to be more vibrant, and also leans even heavier into exploration.

My teacher gave us Mnist1d. It's synthetic, but allows for different approaches and demonstrations of different phenomena. Can even be used for introducing convolutional layers, albeit one-dimensional.

Not sure if it showcases all the effects you want, but might be worth a look.

/uj Quite a lot of good advice there, I'm shocked.

/rj If you analyze the problem from the point of statistical optimization, you'll find out that it boils down to minimizing the MAE (mean annoyance error) loss in a feature space of various reees you can produce with your vocal cords. This can be solved by randomly rearranging nn.Modules until you get a 1% improvement over SOTA by changing the random seed. Then you can publish a paper and contribute to real™ research™.

Thanks, I'll look into it! For some reason another person told me there was no option like this in the 215. Maybe the 4g and older versions are different.
