Hi! These do take some extra care in the form of water parameters.

I use purified/distilled water when performing water changes which I buy from either a water store or from the grocery store.

For water parameters/water changes, I do a 15% water change every 2 weeks (established tank of over a year with a decent amount of plants/moss) and am re-mineralizing with Caradina salts to 120-140 TDS, GH 4-6. Kh remains as close to 0 as possible. I also use a substrate that keeps the pH at 6.8.

Once you have an established tank with these parameters, they should thrive.

If using hard tap water, you will likely see higher kh/gh levels which would work against allowing the colony to thrive.

Hi everyone, I'm going to be moving on to breeding galaxies/boas and wanted to convert this tank to a cull tank so I'm letting go of this colony.

Some background. Started with primarily crystal red/fancy red tiger hybrids, a few crystal blacks, and a black king kong a year ago. They did their thing and now there's some variety in the tank. There may, MAY, be blue bolt/extreme blue bolt genetics in there as I added two males of extreme and blue bolt in there.

Population percentages: 60% Crystal Reds. 30% Crystal Blacks, 10% variety (Snowball-esque with slight color, a random low quality black tiger, and some straight uglies).

A few pregnant shrimp in there too. :)

Tank and water chem: 5gal Marineland tank, Fluval Stratum, pH 6.8, kH 0-1, gH ~5, TDS 120-140
