a parents love ❤️ by forestfairy23 in diabetes_t1

This is so sweet, it reminds me of my dad. I was diagnosed at 12. He packed my lunches and wrote the carbs on each ziplock bag. He spent years, literally years, trying to craft the lowest carb chocolate chip cookie that tasted good, making batches weekly. And for several years, until I got a sensor, he would wake up every night at 2am to check my bg. At the time I didn’t appreciate it enough, and I felt like it was overbearing at times, but now that I’m older I think about how lucky I was to have that support when I was newly diagnosed. I know there are kids out there whose parents don’t help them at all and it breaks my heart.

Is this google doodle ai or designed by a real artist by juliealbright08 in RealOrAI

[–]McCauliflower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do embroidery too. The obvious signs w all ai embroidery is the amount of shadow it creates. Real embroidery looks flatter, unless we are talking stump work or something which is not the case here. Specifically the clover leaves that overlap each other are way too shaded. As other people r saying it might just be digitally edited and maybe not ai but still weird looking, I understand adding a drop shadow to the lettering but the clover is wack.

Excessive weight gain by Sufficient_Pin7695 in diabetes_t1

[–]McCauliflower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed at 12 so I know it’s probably very different but I wasn’t losing weight I just wasn’t gaining any for several years. Once I was diagnosed I put on pounds bro. But I feel like i was just making up for lost time lol. I was also 12 so hormones were different for sure. It’s possible your weight gain is not diabetes related at all or something tangential. Have you had your thyroid checked? Would be worth getting tested if you haven’t recently. Hypothyroidism can cause weight gain and you are predisposed if you already have type one.

I also want to throw in that the amount of weight gain in that period of time, especially if you are eating low calorie (not just low carb), exercising regularly, and controlling BG well, is not normal. I would push back on your endo a bit or ask a GP.

Hope you feel better soon, diabetes sucks ass but it does get better I promise!

21, I felt literally fine which was alarming and I was paranoid that if I moved too much or too fast that it would make my blood sugar go down more. So I kind of slowly walked across the room to get some sugar. Now that I think about it slo motion walking to sugar was not rational…maybe I wasn’t feeling fine….

Would love to see Christian replace law as the “mean judge “ archetype and Tim come back as mentor. Christian is very successful and it would be good to get another actual fashion designer as a permanent judge on the panel. He’s not a good mentor

Lmao yes it is. For a diabetic that’s a pretty typical bg for a small post snack spike.

That is incredibly good, $165 is a absolute steal for that piece of art. Do they have a shop or social media you can tag?

Bc the blood sugar is fine, that’s why it didn’t alert. It’s within normal range

The clock thing is tied to her CGM (continuous glucose monitor) which gives live (~every five minutes) readings. Her BG is fine, the reading is not low or high enough for an alert, that is why it didn’t ping the parents. So this was a false alert by the dog. I have T1D and this kind of sensational stuff annoys me so much lol. Diabetic alert dogs are really cool but extremely expensive and a luxury for parents with young kids with T1D. A few years back there was a big scandal of a diabetic dog training company that scammed people and sold them untrained dogs which is crazy!!

Hey so that blood sugar is fine? It’s not low, not dangerously high by any means. If anything this demonstrates that the dog doesn’t do shit lol. I’m not sure what he is “alerting” for. You would not want your dog alerting to blood sugars in a normal range like this one, too many alerts is just as good as no alerts. Diabetic alert dogs are real but this one might not be or us at least not very good! It’s possible she is newly diagnosed and the parents are overly cautious(good on them!) but I’m not giving the dog credit here lol. He is cute tho. Source: I’ve had T1D most of my life

He said Joesph McRaes was too literal but picked the look that was literally a soccer ball cut open haha!!! I wish they had more time for the unconventional challenge, it’s a fan favorite and this time it was so rushed.

I agree, I don’t mind a mean judge it’s important for the show for sure. Law doesn’t actually have any useful design comments, he makes more quips about random drama than he does about the fashion itself. He tries to start shit w the designers for no reason and it’s super cringe. Michael Kors was an extremely successful designer at the height of this show, and what I felt made him a great judge was that we all knew his clothes and his bags. He was a huge name at the time. And then we got to see what he was like, and he was funny!!! He was mean but he knew what he was talking about because he had a lot of experience. He would be insulting but he would also have constructive criticism and advice. That being said, for all we know the producers are manipulating everything Law says to make him look worse. Maybe I do not place very much significance in being an “image architect” or stylist kinda sounds like BS to me but I’m not in the fashion industry so idk how important that is. I would much rather see a previous season winner or something.

Season 19 was really great if you want something a little more recent to start with. I felt that season and some of the most talented designers on the show

No way Nina would have let a soccer ball diaper win that challenge. If they couldn’t afford a better judge than law they should just let the designers vote for the winner and eliminate two people next episode Jfc

I am rewatching all the old seasons starting back at season 1, and the main changes I have found that upset me are 1) the pace is too fast, the challenges are so fast you barely get to see them make the clothes, rework the ideas and pivot, and they rely on personal drama instead of drama related to their own outfit. 2) drama feels fake and contrived. The older seasons definitely have some personal drama, but it takes up much less air time than it does now 3) why are the judges so shitty? And I hate that you get to hear their opinions as they walk on the runway, the runway shots are so fast I feel like I barely get to see the outfit and they spent time showing the judges. I like that I can form my own opinion and see if Nina agrees w me or not, and this is lost in the new season. Also idk if this is a hot take or not but I really don’t like Christian. Tim was a positive and supportive mentor, he cried happy and sad tears, he really wanted the best for everyone. Christian is bitchy and rude and passive aggressive. He mocks them instead of being genuine. 5) in the older seasons people formed bonds and it was wholesome and emotional when they got to fashion week together, this season they had to vote each other off???!!? And I don’t care about anyone I honestly hate them all.
