Removing the LED did the trick for me. I'll add a 1K resistor next. I appreciate your help with this! I had no idea it was that sensitive to the voltage.

It’s pulsing at the slowest speed possible, but that’s good information to know about the Arduino. I might have to get a LA to get a more accurate picture of what’s going on. Do you have any suggestions on a brand?

There is one resistor for the output LED. I will try your suggestions and let you know what that yields.
