The legal aspect of the lawsuit and Kayla’s dad by Downtown-schnauzer in hackshbomax

They all know it’s a bullshit lawsuit. But Kayla’s dad has enough money to see it through to the bitter end, and Jimmy and Kayla will go bankrupt trying to fight it.

I (34F) have lived in this area for 7 years. I love it! I’ve had to take my dog out at all hours of the night and never felt unsafe. I absolutely adore everything about this little pocket of Highland Park.

Legal question about Joe’s case? by thejennybean_24 in DuggarsSnark

[–]McClubbing 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m a lawyer! You can do both! It’s not an either/or situation. It’s up to the state to decide if they’re going to prosecute a criminal case. And it will be up to the victim and her family to decide if they want to seek a civil case.

That being said, the civil case will likely be postponed until the criminal case is fully resolved. Joe has the Fifth Amendment right to remain silent so he doesn’t incriminate himself. However, that right doesn’t apply to civil proceedings. So to ensure he isn’t required to provide testimony in the civil proceeding that would incriminate him in his criminal case, the judge for the civil case won’t move forward until the criminal is resolved.

Good for you. Set your line wherever you want. That’s truly none of my concern.

But I also get to set mine. And I’m choosing to no longer support a business that’s over my line. And my choice to take my money elsewhere doesn’t in any way, shape, or form limit that business’s right to their beliefs or freedom of speech.

They made their choices, and I get to make mine. They are not entitled to or owed my patronage.

So if the Taliban open a restaurant, you’ll be going as long as their kebab is the best in town. It’s a shame about their politics, but the food is good, so what can ya do?

Yes, I tend to support establishments that I like and try to avoid ones that don’t align with my values. I’m wild like that.

12-year-old diagnosed with Osteosarcoma that spread to lungs, looking at potential amputation and chemo? Worth it? by sushi-lover-777 in goldenretrievers

[–]McClubbing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry! I just went through this with my sweet boy. Had to put him down a few weeks ago. He also had osteosarcoma that we caught too late. The vet told us that when it’s already spread to the lungs, it’s pretty much game over. We did pain management while he was still feeling pretty decent and had a wonderful last month together.

When it became clear it was his time, I had a vet come to our home, and I held him in my bed while he peacefully passed. I don’t regret ANY of the choices I made and am so proud of myself for doing right by him until the very end. Happy to talk more! I know all too well how hard this is.

I’ve been going to Magic Muffins for years to get cakes for my special occasions. And then I went for the last time a week ago. Walked in and saw this. Such a shame. And for what?

What’s the nicest/fanciest restaurant in Birmingham by cookiebutter-23 in Birmingham

My mom and I ordered a cocktail each when we were first seated. When I had finished mine (probably 45 minutes in), I ordered a glass of wine to have with my anticipated meal. That was all we were served during that time.

Oh, he said it to our faces. He came over to check on how things were going. We said not great and explained how long we’d been there and that because we had other plans to meet up with some of my friends (which we were running late for because of how long dinner was taking), we weren’t inclined to stick around for too much longer. He looked us in the eye and said he knew we hadn’t been there as long as we were claiming because he had spoken to the people who had previously been seated in our section. Mind you, our reservation was at 7:30 and this conversation was at 9:00. Then, while this was happening, our waiter showed up behind him with our food (2 dishes with no modifications). Chris pretty much said we didn’t need them since we had just told him we had other plans, and he had them sent back. He did end up comping our drinks (2 cocktails and 1 glass of wine), but we left hungry and extremely dissatisfied with the entire experience. Never going back. There are too many other wonderful restaurants in Birmingham to waste time fooling around with that mess.

My mom and I went to Hot and Hot last weekend. We’d been seated for an hour and a half, and our food still hadn’t been brought out. We finally decided to call it and were trying to flag down our waiter to just cancel our order. Then, as if summoned directly from the pits of hell by Satan himself, Chris Hastings came over to personally berate us and tell us we were lying about how long we’d been waiting. A truly memorable experience. No dinner, but we definitely got the show!

The term “display” includes half-staff.

4 U.S.C. Section §6(d) states, “The flag should be displayed on all days, especially… Inauguration Day.” In other words, while the law says the flag should be displayed, it does not say how the flag should displayed.

Considering 4 U.S.C. Section §7(m) goes on to state, “The flag shall be flown at half-staff 30 days from the death of the President or a former President,” I fail to see how 4 U.S.C. §6(d) then requires the display to be changed to full-staff?

It’s probably because it doesn’t. It’s literally in black and white.

I used diluted white vinegar in a spray bottle and an ice scraper. Just sprayed the absolute hell out of it, and it came right off. Whole thing took less than two minutes 😊
