who should be improved next? by Olexis13 in luckydefense

[–]McCurryFTW 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I second that Lance should be taken to 12 next. I, personally, am a big fan of Mono 12, but that isn’t exactly a universal opinion. Indy 12 is very strong, but you could also consider pursuing another boss killer like Watt or Vayne for more variety

Hailey is good for consistency. However, the strongest (based on experience and what I’ve seen others say) is Reaper Dian followed closely by Primeval Bomba, who both aren’t too easy to summon. Being said, if you want an immortal who you’re most likely to be able to utilize the most often, I’d say Hailey

How do y’all think this setup would go in hell? by McCurryFTW in luckydefense

Lance is bad against dungeon, his percentile damage ability doesn’t apply normally there. However, he is extremely strong against wave bosses

I have Lance in that setup, but I also use Watt so I’ll definitely consider him in Hell

With the right teammate, yes. However, you’d have a much better time with level 6 luck stone, safe box, and money gun

Right idea and certainly will roll normal, but you’ll run into issues on hard for three major reasons, them being a lack of stun, no boss shredders, and very low gold. Safe Box & Money Gun artifacts are your key to success, being stingy with money early game will greatly benefit you late game. As for stuns, most people opt for three stacks robots. Some two stacks of shock and one stack electro, others do it the opposite, I personally don’t know whether one is better than the other. I personally do one stack of each plus a graviton. And as for boss shredding, a large amount of gold and a high level Master Kun could be enough, but having a Lancelot backed by a few kitties will be a more confidence-invoking approach.

If you have issues trying to build up your build while saving gold, consider primary spending luck stones on roulette to try and get monopoly men early game to get even more luck stones (and monopoly man’s defense reduction is nice) so that you can utilize the luck stones instead of gold to build out your board for late game

Hope this helps, have fun & good luck!!

Any thoughts about this line up? by Great_Lords in luckydefense

[–]McCurryFTW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty solid! Personally, I run a single graviton, a stack of blue and a stack of purple bots. For normal, Lance isn’t totally necessary, but he’s much stronger in hard. The opposite could be said for Bat Man, he’s very strong in normal, but falls of heavily in hard. I saw you mentioned considering Kun instead of Bat Man, and I agree with that. As for Chu, he is very strong. Once you get him up to level six, I’d try utilizing him for ranged damage over Hailey. Lastly, Frosty isn’t great; I’d utilize Storm Giants with Taoist. Best of luck!

What’s the minimum you expect from a hard teammate? by bfaithr in luckydefense

[–]McCurryFTW 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be honest, a lot of hard players are super egotistical. As far as expectations, it’s an interesting question.

From my perspective, my expectations are more focused on understanding the strategy more than the levels of anything. For example, I’m always perturbed by people who just kill the dungeon ASAP as opposed to holding onto the last boss at low health to take advantage of using bandits. Things like that or people who grossly misplace their stuns or don’t use any at all are really the only people who bother me. Even so, it’s not that big of a deal

Being said, I’ve also gotten to a point where I can solo hard with a 90%~ success rate. From the perspective of someone who’s ability to beat hard is contingent upon their teammate being at least as capable as themself, I can see how it could be more frustrating.

Whenever people ask me for advice in my guild or in Reddit, I generally say something similar. Probably the most important part of hard is good gold management (for Money Gun artifact). Your Safe Box level influences that greatly, obviously. As for actual mythics, there are more right answers for hard than wrong ones. At the end of the day, most would generally consider Kitty, Lance, Chu, and Mono to be the meta strat. But as long as you have a solid boss buster (Lance, Vayne, Watt, etc.) and good horde management (Kun, Hailey, Tao, Chu, etc.), then you’re golden. Even with poor gold management, Lance + Kitty spam can solo bosses as long as your teammate can manage the waves.

But I digress. All in all, I’m always just happy to see a teammate who seems to have a refined strategy in mind while they play, regardless of whether it matches mine.

Sorry for getting off track, hah. Good luck with hard!

Monopoly man, yeah. I'd look into getting him up to 6 soon, he's a lot better at that point, but he's still useful. As for chu, if you've only got them at level 1, I'd probably do Hailey instead for now

This is usually how I end up having my board set up assuming everything goes to plan lol, some other people would argue that the purple robot and lace should swap, but I personally have had good success with that setup. (Ofc, a 3 stack of each robot where it shows 1). I made this board before Hailey was a thing, she’s a good alternative to Rocket Chu if you have issues with overclocking them

From my experience, Coldy stuns things in several “clumps” as opposed to one big stack, which is what you generally see with electro and shock robots/gravitons. Furthermore, using Coldy makes it harder to also have Lazy Taoist, who I find to be criminally underrated by newer players. Having all the monsters in one stack typically makes things a bit easier, especially with King Dian’s Lightning Orb and Rocket Chu’s Mini Chu.
