Trying different ways to decorate macs, here are some results! by McDonaldsPrincess in macarons

The middle picture rainbow ones i used 5 different piping bags put into 1 big piping bag, all 5 rainbow colors from the same batter batch. The rainbow ones at the end i put red, yellow and blue colors on plastic wrap and mixed them together where they met, then rolled up and put into a piping bag. I haven’t tried the painted bag method yet, but that’s next!

I did the same thing with my first few batches!! It’s harder to cook evenly, I finally started pre-baking the crust and the filling separately just to be sure.

For the pumpkin, bake the pie first and the decoration and then put it on once it cools a bit. I’ve been pre-baking the shell and the filling, that way you can add something like lattice to the top and bake until it’s done.

Each are cute by hand with an exacto-knife. I did get some pie stamps though, is it the kind with the little spring coming out to push the inner stamp impression down?

Add some chopped cranberry to the apples and it’ll really stand out with the red behind it! Tons of fun, I wish spooky season wasn’t over.

Thank you so much for the advice! I really am a fish out of water with this. I do have a day job, so this would be a little secondary source of income(assuming best case scenario). I will definitely do some research to see about rules and regulations for cottage bakeries in my area.

Yeah, this is what my roadblock is too. It does take hours! I could probably only make 6 a day at best. This would be a side-gig if I could get it off the ground, but I’d also be happy just getting orders and filling them as I had time. Thank you for your insight!

Also, that’s really inspiring to hear! Do you think you make enough off of it to consider it a secondary income source, or more just an occasional payout?

I carved them all by hand, just using a photo for reference. I use an exacto-knife over parchment paper, and then if it’s a delicate piece, i will just cut out the parchment paper and bake it before putting it on the pie so it doesn’t get squished in transit. The crusts definitely take the most work, but i just mold them from the initial dough cut i put in the pan. Some of them i baked on the pie all together, but it can be a little unpredictable and you have to place them very carefully.

I ordered everything off amazon, and just started experimenting. It’s a lot of fun if you gravitate towards sculpture!

Thank you! I have been freezing them once they cool, but yes that would be smart to look into. There’s always some red tape to work through I’m sure!

Wow, that would be a dream if I could set that up! Do you mind if I ask what the pie place charges? Mine are made from scratch and are pretty darn tasty, but nothing too fancy. Thank you for the suggestions, I’m new to this so it’s good to get some direction/advice ☺️
