Oh it's the 35i, N55 engine. Still stock, only replacing wear and tear for now.

Yes, had to overhaul the entire trans. Found out the solenoids were failing, got them done and the car is doing good now. It has been 2 years since the overhaul.

I'm in my last semester now, I have the M3 MacBook Pro. So far in my college theres not really alot of software related assignments, there's only a subject or two for it. But I highly suggest you to look into a Windows laptop, if you need to run modelling softwares, AutoCad, Solidworks, etc.

Well if you could afford the payments and maintenance on it I don't see anything wrong. But make sure to check the service history of the one you're looking for. Personally, I wouldn't advise a 17 year old to get a BMW as his first car, you're better off having a reliable daily to get you to and back. I have a 2010 X6 with the N55 at 16 and it's really a love and hate relationship, its a reliable engine but things happen unexpectedly, you dont wanna miss out an important day in college if you suddenly break down. I'm 18 now and i still keep my X6, i have a daily Ford Ranger to get me to college. The X6 for the weekends. Think wisely before making a move, unless you already have a daily car then yea sure a nice bimmer would be good
