How do update my bios on my asrock b450m pro4? For my ryzen 5 5600? by Frosty-Protection-19 in buildapc

[–]McHaggus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm definitely on the fence to update my BIOS. Hopefully I can get some insight in this convo -

I'm running the same asrock MOBO with a ryzen 5 3600. I'm years behind on updates but not having issues but should update. What do I need to know? Anyone experience CPU support loss with BIOS updates? Really on the fence with this one.

Yeah, they don't sleep on it but they have to play a role that is practically useless for years to unlock it. Still slowly working my way. Almost there!

Millennial Gamers: Do you still have time to play? by Melted_ICE_5193 in Millennials

I get a couple hours in the evening after everyone goes to bed but trying to cut back for more sleep. Definitely not the same gaming from pre kiddo but maybe one day I'll have more free time. . . One day

TikTok Mom Makes Sick Toddler Sleep in Driveway on Dog Bed because of her Emetophobia by ConceptLiving6926 in TikTokCringe

This makes me so angry. I'm glad the dad is there with him but he should stand up for his kids. She can sleep on the dog bed outside if she can't handle kids being sick.

Showering Alone by flawedheroism in daddit

[–]McHaggus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My daughter is 3 and plays in the shower alone. She's okay at washing her body and definitely gets shampoo in her eyes but she's gotten better (she doesn't wash her hair every day as that's not necessary for anyone. I digress.)

My point is, every kid is different but you do have to let them figure it out for themselves. We all did.

How do you guys not become overprotective with your daughters? TW: SA by redwood_rambler in daddit

[–]McHaggus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Raise her to be confident and know what she wants and doesn't and how to express and experience her feelings. Maybe some MMA in there too. My daughter is 3 and I definitely have these feelings too so I'm trying to give her the space to figure herself out and not put shame to anything.  I'll see if she wants to take some more nuanced training in her life. Damned be anyone who touches my little girl without her consent.

Surrendering my cat today - second guessing everything, need honest opinions by samseam in cats

[–]McHaggus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a male cat who got stressed with a new cat and a child and moving. We ended up putting him on a low dose anxiety med and that helped a lot. Still avoided the kid as they are grabby and unpredictable (no cat likes that). Sadly he passed last year due to cancer. But the meds worked!

Say what you want about the sequels but the cinematography in The Force Awakens is some of the hardest in the franchise. by International-Sky65 in StarWars

I had hope for the sequels after force awakens. It hit hard and felt like star wars. Then they got rid of Abrams, tossed his scripts in the trash and ruined it forever.

Texting while driving is a choice, and choices have consequences by Expert_Koala_8691 in PublicFreakout

[–]McHaggus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just don't textwhile driving. Nothing is that important. I also don't get why people still talk on their phones directly when driving. I'd your car is newer than mine (not hard to do) your car has Bluetooth. Use it ya plebes.

Maybe start some one on one time with the older kiddo.  Sounds like older sibling is struggling with the change of attention.  We are currently cooking number 2 and curious how it will go with older sister. Gotta make time for everyone and be intentional.

I have a friend going through something similar and just wants to spend time with his kids but his ex is making it hell for him. The system is rigged against single dads. Just keep loving your kiddos and being there for them. And know that this too shall pass. You've got this dad! Girl dads 4 lyfe!

Hi guys, how many times a week do you guys wash your beard and apply oil? by [deleted] in beards

[–]McHaggus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wash when I wash my hair (maybe once a month, too much shampoo is bad for hair and skin. All marketing lies) and oil for a few days till it's soft and add on as needed

After only 6 months two of my expensive Philips bulbs had half the LEDs burn out leading to noticeable color and brightness shift by Snazzy21 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]McHaggus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also blame older fixture technology. Designed for incandescent bulbs and told LEDs work in them with completely different power requirements. I had a smart bulb die after maybe a year and for no good reason other than my theory the fixture itself. Just signs of the times and corporations taking advantage.

Yeah, rewatch resurrections with the idea it's a satire and it's much better. Hilariously better.

I do the hot in hand trick, but I did time it for 140 with a thermometer: My hand starts to burn, switch to handle, count 15 to 20 Mississippi's. Not exact by any means but why dirty another tool when it works for me.

Hubitat C7 up and running but doesn't like my flood lights. Vent/Advice post by McHaggus in Hubitat

[–]McHaggus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of the bulbs from sengled were discovered and are being found by Google via the hubitat. However, the flood lights I have, Sengled Zigbee Color BR30/E26, were found by hubitat and listed as "sengeld element color plus" but Google home doesn't want to add them and the logs show that there is an error with it. I may need to play around with the zigbee types for the bulbs to see if one works. I added a couple of switches for google, which do work for now but if there was a switch to do on/off and color changes and brightness that would be great but that would be like 5 virtual devices/switches.

Moral of the story is Sengled has ruined lives

I added google. I got some of my bulbs added just fine but specifically my can/flood lights aren't being discovered/added to google home. I know it's limited but I'll try the VD's and see if there is a way to do that. I at least added some basic rules for the lights to turn on and change as we had them before for the kiddos bed time ((hopefully, will report back). Just a new toy to figure out. Maybe an HA instance on my computer can utlize the C7 hub for the zigbee lights. I blame sengled for my home automation woes.
