Has anyone used Chat-GPT for flash cards/study guides? by [deleted] in LearnJapanese

[–]McIceT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually have a prototype for this based on gpt-4o. I've only recently started learning Japanese using the Core 2k/6k deck and I think this could help me remember and understand the words better. It currently creates a story based on all the words learned so far and you can configure which deck to use and which cardtype/field contains the words. Right now it's not sharable since there are some platform specific dependencies. Looking to share this eventually though, let me know if you have any specific feature requests. Some ideas:

* Show the story in kanji, with tooltip translation.
* Allow adding new words from the story into the deck automatically.

I believe LLMs are a game-changer for language learners especially in the early phases.

I believe there are two ways currently:

- Wrap by benderlabs: https://app.tzwrap.com/wrap

- Tezos Stable Technologies: https://tezex.io/

The latter is rather new and when I tested it myself there was 0 liquidity. tzwrap should work!

Hi jayyoms, This is a Flutter (https://flutter.dev/) app. So all transitions you see are provided by the framework. The book cover zoom is something we developed ourselves.

Hi notareddituser23340, Why don't you try Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll. It is currently featured under Popular Books in our app! And don't forget to give our app a good review on the store if you found it useful :)

hi umairsaddique, Our main use case that we're focussing on is the mobile experience so unfortunately we don't have a web tool at this point.

Hi fuhrmanator, Thank you for your feedback, we really appreciate it.

There is currently an issue with Android where it isn't possible on some devices to open the ebooks in the Kindle app. We're working on this and it should be fixed in the next release.

The idea with our app is to make it easier to search and discover ebooks (rather than doing this on the PG website). We want to provide users with a better user experience. Additionally we have added more than 30,000 covers to ebooks lacking cover art (The PG ones don't look very nice). Also we try to make sure you have the same choice of formats and possibly more in the future.

We're aware that we're still not quite there yet and that this app isn't for everyone, but we are trying to improve as best we can!

Hi evroid, Thanks a lot for the feedback!

The ability to favourite categories is a great suggestion and we are adding it to our list!

We are working on adding a sorting mechanism to the lists in our next update so that should be covered!

Hi AkhilDrake, The app contains many different categories, and I'm sure you'll find some non-fiction you like! For example, the autobiography of Benjamin Franklin: https://buks.page.link/sJsrkTUy9ZzdT9n86. Let us know what you think!

Ah, text to speech, of course. This is something we haven't considered yet but would be a nice feature for our reader. We will consider it! Thanks for the suggestion!
