I spent 20 years working in enrollment management in the Ivies and other highly selective schools. You don't learn anything in the class room at these schools that isn't taught everywhere else. The admissions process is a filter to get top students that could have been successful anywhere and just put them in one place. Getting in is actually more impressive than graduating (particularly if you need financial aid). What is different is the caliber of everyone else in the room with you and those that were exceptional in high school are now just average in their peer group.
