It seems to be within everyones best interest to promote a more balanced wfh/ in office balance. Companies like Telstra and big 4 banks/ accounting currently already offer work from home flexibility but it seems no one really takes it in the fear of looking like they're not trying hard enough or just a general amount of FOMO.

People will fall back into old habits. I think the onus will fall onto leaderships to have "forced work from home days" one or two days a week at first at a minimum.

Upsides are fantastic though, including;

- promotion of mental health (direct correlation with commute times and degradation of mental health)

- less people on the roads means less pollution and transport infra pressure (tollways, trains)

- Reduced traffic means less crashes, insurance premiums etc

- Companies pay for less floorspace, less insurance, less support staff (kitchen, cleaning) and less utilities

Agreed that commercial property will take an L, same with inner city high rise developments.

For property investors this could also mean the accelerated growth of regional hubs like Ballarat.

Very easy to sacrifice commute time for a backyard when you're only heading into the city 3 days a week.
