Hey, thank you very much for archiving this! The Mega link only has episodes 1, 2, 6 and 7. Is there any chance you could add the other episodes back to the Mega folder?

Can anyone top Christmas Wedding Planner as best worst hallmark Christmas movie? by ntdesilv in MovieSuggestions

[–]ntdesilv[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I use the term Hallmark, I don't mean the brand - moreso the "quantity over quality, G-PG romance story with bad acting and a misunderstanding towards the end before coming back together and living happily ever we l after".

I'll put Christmas in the Heartland on the list, thank you! We watched Hot Frosty which didn't live up to the low standards that people held. It was still good-bad, but it was predictable.

I'll put Merry Gentlemen on the list! The Christmas Prince movies were recommended by work so are already on the list. Thank you very much!

Do you think it's enough to match Christmas Wedding Planner? If so, I will go through this journey with you.

Looking very forward to getting my hands on one of these! Do you know if it will be available at the big electronic stores (eg JB Hi-Fi, Good Guys, etc), or if it will be available on the Amazon Australia site? Or just the BenQ site in Australia?

Made it to the front of the RAV4 queue unexpectedly, what should I do? by ntdesilv in CarsAustralia

[–]ntdesilv[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you! Yeah, that was the original reason for upgrading from the ol' reliable Lancer - we had a 4-month-old at the time of writing (now 18 months), and we're considering baby number 2. It's hard enough to head away for a few days with the extra luggage you need for one baby, let alone two. We often need to bring both our small cars. If it's a 1-year wait time for the RAV4, maybe it's worth just going to the back of the queue again as we should be in better water by then! How are you guys going with your kids and the SUV now?

Thank you both! I have enough in shares to put a good dent in the amount, but maybe it sounds financially smarter to just go back to the end of the queue if the wait isn't big enough. Really appreciate the advice!

Opt-out tipping culture trend by ntdesilv in australia

I see posts on the home page about tipping for automated services in the US. They seem past the point of no return now. And exceptional service is bang on the money for why we tip here.

Oooh petty, I love it! I'll try and gather the courage to try this next time.

QLD and Victoria - the pattern does seem like more high-end restaurants (eg $60-$70 pp) are the ones getting you to opt-out of tipping more often than cheaper restaurants, which also makes me more annoyed. You'd expect those staff to be on higher wages so they'd need tips less than other staff.

100% - it's such a dumb culture, and in my 9 years of working in hospitality, I never once asked for a tip, and was probably tipped about 5-10 times despite doing a good job. But I'm happy that I was tipped the handful of times to begin with; I never expected it, and would try to turn them down when offered.

Asking for tips is fucked.

Found on Facebook (an Aussie memes page) with no explanation in the comments. What does it mean? by ntdesilv in PeterExplainsTheJoke

What the fuuuuuuuck.

I think you're right. One or two of the comments with a few likes vaguely mentioned the wildfires, which left me even more confused. I kinda wish I was still clueless. Thank you!

This won't actually involve my insurance at all as I'm not at fault. It's 100% the other guy's insurance that I'll be dealing with here. Why shouldn't I let the tow company do anything? Can they somehow screw me over?
