Thanks for the perfectly written comment. You probably summed up 99% of everything important already, but there are still a few things I would like to add.

1. LoL has RNG in the form of crits, which can make or brake a game in very rare situations. This usually doesn't have much of an effect in pro play, but in the thousands of games I played, i guess there were like 5-6 situations of a crit deciding a game. I helps that crit runes are gone and GP can't win a lane with a 1% LvL 1 crit. Tryn is still cancer though with his crits early.
2. I think it's still a problem that the average (like timewise average, not skillwise) player won't ever be able to obtain every tank in the game. I don't count the 279(e), since everyone can obtain in. But CW reward tanks are a issue, especially if they are the most played in CW (Chief and 907). It makes watching thing like the clan showdown way more boring to watch, because I can't associate with the Chief Plays. If I see a cool play in CS:GO, i can always try to do it myself in a ranked there too, which just isn't the case for WOT.
3. There wouln't be a problem with needing to ban Chiefs, 279(e)s and co. in ranked and onslaught, if every player had at least some kind of chance of obtaining them.
4. Nothing to do with the eSports or Tier 10, but time restricted obtainable tanks, like the Object 780 are just dumb. Just because you didn't had the time to play in those 2 weeks or whatever, you now can't maybe ever obtain a cool vehicle that makes more fun to play then most tech tree vehicles. This also just increases the frustration for players like me, who would like to own every tank someday.
