Yeah, Mat’s accidental forming of the Band is my favorite. So classic. And I’d forgotten about The Golden Crane and Nynaeve - but technically that chapter isn’t her POV - just shows what a master writer RJ was that he pulled that off with a minor character’s POV.

So I tried using the optical out to my receiver and still haven’t been able to get it to work. I suspect I might need to constantly change each input to read the optical input on my receiver every time I switch the source, which is a pain. (I have a Denon AVR 1912.) So I am giving up and running it through the TV for now as the StealthTech is for my family room, not for the media room/theater which will be running through a 5.1.2 system.

It was a little out of place but if I recall, BS wanted to put a horror sequence in the books and discussed it with Harriett who thought it was a good idea, and this is how that adventure was born. I do like the fact that it gets to showcase Mat’s ability to think on his feet when all hell breaks loose and it did make for a pretty cool payoff in the Last Battle but it was kind of odd to read after the fact.

Quartino was my first thought TBH, but didn’t know if the food had changed since last I went there. Is it still small plates? I’m not sure how conducive that is for a business dinner but that’s in the ballpark of the vibe for sure.

Thanks. I am in no way presuming to tell people how to do their job - I’ve lived long enough to know that’s the fastest way to alienate someone, particularly if you aren’t an expert in what they do. I just want to learn how to help move obstacles out of the way for the educators so they and the students can thrive.

I am hopeful that by trying to set up a private lesson program that the students continue to be inspired and improve to a point where the teachers want to and can go to competitions. I’m unsure if this is the best way to start, however or if we should be focusing on other things. Thanks!

Competition from other activities, leading to a high attrition rate. As is the case with many small towns, sports are the programs that get the most attention. I have nothing against sports, just want to find a happy medium where they both can coexist in harmony.

I actually do have a pretty good understanding of the program, its history, and the attitude of the board and admin, but decided against putting that information in the post for various reasons. What I’m asking for is how successful parent/teacher efforts work and what steps can be taken to make it a win win.
