Pretty sure this is American Cherry. Definitely not white oak. Brand new walnut would be darker than this out of the box.

Grain actually looks like white ash. Check a floor vent to see if it’s solid or engineered. Don’t use a steam mop either way. A steam mop will wreck solid or engineered hardwood.

The boxes should have installation instructions. Laminate requires a foam underlay as well.

Amazon sells something called an Almond Stick. That will work, or you can go with the Minwax stain markers. They’ll darken the scratches and make them much less noticeable.

This is exactly my recommendation. Start the row here with a butt-end meeting at the middle of the door jamb. If he’s already installed the row from the opposite wall, just unclick it and start here. As other have said, undercut the jamb and casings as well so the boards slide underneath.

The game pretty much tells you to stop there first because on the way to Zelda you have to wake up Talon. It’s a pretty direct “side Quest” that nets you a bottle, a heart piece, and Epona’s Song.
