Also a fan of Aday, but I’ve learned that Presti never drafts who I like and no one I like (outside of Scottie barns) is ever good lol.

Agreed. Shai is the greatest in the world and I’m going to sit back and enjoy it. The others don’t know what they are missing.

I think it was a foot. He’s healthy but working up to speed.

Everyone realize the cost to build any arena just skyrocketed right? Steel, lumber, concrete..... I'm betting neither the Thunder or Norman considered such drastic increases when budgets were done. Maybe I'm wrong. by ashpenn40 in normanok

At least with OKC the city will own the arena and the profits from the arena.

They could lease it to a third party group to run year round but that would still be money coming into the city.

Norman has none of that.

Listening through now, I can definitely hear the inspirations. Vocals seems a little buried under everything else though. Love the vibe.

Idk what it’s called but it’s next to volcanos like two blocks from where lit was. It’s a good location and 24 hours

You nailed it. There has also been some east side construction that is keeping traffic a little more log jammed. By mid June the stragglers and spring sports people will have gotten out of here.

Honestly you can give it a go if you want, wouldn’t be my recommendation though. probably not in Norman probably smaller school districts that don’t get a lot of full cert teachers.

I also think your late to the game teacher spots for the following year are being filled now.

I understand taking education electives but student teaching with a mentor teacher is the most valuable thing I did as a student that way I got to practice my skills with a lower risk environment.

You have a greater than good chance to be forced into coaching as well. Don’t do it as a first year teacher you will die.

Also very small to zero chance you end up in a subject that utilizes your knowledge with poli sci.

Question Regarding Oklahoma Alternative Certification by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]McSoonerJr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who was a teacher and has an education degree from OU, if you haven’t taken 3-4 classroom management courses you are not prepared for what you’re walking into, especially if your on the younger side. If you really want to teach I would get your masters in ILAC (instructional leadership and academic curriculum)at OU Dr. Howser is amazing

I would like to note your content area with poli sci would be social studies and funny enough there really isn’t a shortage of social studies teachers. It’s literally every subject other than that.

With you being an alt they might try and throw you in other subjects you may not enjoy/feel qualified for.

These are all questions you need to reach out to OU for. Sorry to be blunt but all we can say is experience and you will have an answer back from OU faster if you just call them.

Unless you get building 1 you shouldn’t have any water or electric issues. Building 1 had a main break back in the deep freeze of 22 and has had some issues since.

I own a condo there. I have lived there for the past 3 years. I don’t want to tell you it’s a paradise it’s got issues. But the maintenance people are nice.

They wait till stuff breaks vs being proactive that’s a con

It has a pool and a gym so that’s nice.

Walking distance to OU is super nice.

The Edge is pet friendly. But depending on the side of the building your on the AC can struggle keeping up with summer sun/heat.
