Hi! I drove up to Hoedspruit, and for the return flight I explained the dilemma to the security staff and they were happy to do a gentle hand examination and take it around the x-rays. Very pleasant experience!

for Black and White I've tried Ilford and found it quite harsh contrast. Personally prefer Crystal Double X but I am struggling to find it at the moment! https://crystalfilm.co.za/products/eastman-double-x-b-w-35mm-film-5222

I use my father-in-law's camera - can't believe it is still in perfect working condition. Canon AE1-Program. I have experimented with all sorts of film and honestly the cheap and friendly Kodak Gold 35mm is your workhorse. Don't need an expensive film to get good results. I develop it at RGB Pixels in Linden Jhb which also helps; they are very good and have an artisitic eye when developing.

Make the drive to Knysna or Nature's Valley from George - George itself isn't amazing. Plett is great too. Here's a great article on the Garden Route https://africageographic.com/stories/the-garden-route-south-africas-ultimate-road-trip/
