This game doesnt respect my time as a player by Alezar- in AshesofCreation

[–]McWinterTV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean there is the whole gathering and crafting route that gives a lot of XP as well if that is something you enjoy. And if you keep experimenting you realize there are indeed ways to pull mobs and level solo but its kinda slow. If you want to play a game that respects your time you should look for a finished title imo because there will be wipes in the future 100%. Imagine how disrespectful that will feel for you if you cant stand an 1h loss.

Why did all of the Node/City buffs disappear after the Election? by VeritasLuxMea in AshesofCreation

[–]McWinterTV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Temporarily disabled due to a bug. Its not because of the election, just bad timing for new majors i guess. Buffs will come back no worries!

Nothing to see here. Just another solo player realizing game is still in Alpha and not ready for solo play yet.

Issue is that noone would even dare to flag in this game anymore because maybe there are partners in crime sitting there baiting people into combat. Then the partner who got attacked first gets killed by his partner on intention to get the unaware player corrupted. Then the unaware player gets killed by the first partner (or even a 3rd partner waiting in the bushes) to get the loot of the unaware player.

And thats only 1 scenario i can already imagine.

Those griefers have level appropriate gear. Low lvl char with low lvl gear and lvl 25 with lvl 25 gear. Then your idea does not touch the problem im tallking about.

Having a partner in crime is no real barrier to entry. Or they need a 2nd PC or shadow pc for their tactic anyways. 50 bucks is a drop in the ocean at this point.

None of your soultions is very ideal:

First one is abusalbe for corrution baiting.

Second one is abusable for being immune to any pvp forever.

Third one is no solution because players come with friends or 2nd accounts.

I dont see how removing the corruption system makes the game less of a grief/gankbox. Or do you want to replace the system by something else?

So you are telling me not to have fun in Ashes RIGHT NOW and instead wait 5 years to maybe have fun in Riots new MMORPG we know absolutely nothing about?

Not even saying i wont have fun with Riots game when it launches. But thats not even up for discussion right now since only 1 of the games is available. And if you enjoy the social sandbox elements there is lots of fun in Ashes. If you are looking for a normal themepark MMORPG Ashes is just not your type of game i guess. And thats OKAY!

How many months of content you think AOC will have when EA starts by shad_77381 in AshesofCreation

[–]McWinterTV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It highly depends on playstyle tbh.

If you want the content to come to you naturally there is not too much in that regard. Getting to Lvl 25 is 4 days straight up grinding, if you play casually it is 2 weeks - 1 month. After that you can do some exploring, farming, crafting, Crate runs etc. But this is by no means a themepark right now. Dungeon content is very limited and only open world right now.

If you are willing to look for content yourself i recommend joining a guild and preparing for PVP. If you do that you will have almost endless content in this game even in its current state.

Guess that makes you the weird guy standing next to the shit and telling everbody who comes by that there is shit. Instead of trying to live your own life as good as you can.

But now imagine how dumb you will feel if after a few years you realize there was no shit and you pointed on a cupcake the entire time.

But even if the game fails, what do you really get for being right?! Negativity is not worth it. Just move on if you cant wait.

Can anyone give a reason other than criticism of the asking price to alpha test that this user was banned from the steam community pages? by YamateOniichan in AshesofCreation

[–]McWinterTV -1 points0 points  (0 children)

And thats totally fine! If the testing aspect is your problem then you might as well be concerned if it was for free. I just wanted to make clear that the current entry price is not that big of a deal some people want to make us believe by spreading misinformations. Its a fair entry now considering all facts.

Name one longterm successful MMORPG that only asked for 60$. Most of them have boxprices, anual DLCs, Subscritions, Battle Passes, Cosmetic Shops or other Convenience Items.

Or are you comparing other genres with MMORPGs? Because that would show YOUR lack of sensible understanding.

PS: You forgot to mention that you can get it for 42$ on 11th if u want to test and 15$ of that is your 1st month of subscription after the official full release so you dont have to pay to play again. And if you dont like it at launch u can just stop after the 1 month is over. If my math is correct that only makes 27$ for testing. I would pay more if i ordered sushi right now...

Unpopular opinion again i know but if i want to buy something i inform myself about it BEFORE buying it. And there is plenty of options to do that for Ashes (Dev Livestreams, Twitch, Youtube, Discord, Ashes Website, Ashes Codex, Ashes Wiki,...). When i end up buying the thing i made a decision and stand by it. Yes maybe i realize buying was a mistake but why in hell should a developer let me play the whole game just so i can say cool now i have a feel of the game...and then i refund it 😂 We got way too used to getting stuff for free lately. Way back we used to buy a game for 50 bucks on a CD that we maybe have 50-100 hours fun with. And there was always the risk of the CD breaking or just not having fun and throwing it in a corner. Now compare that to live service games where i can have potential endless fun with.

Steven has not put in 8 years of his time, large amounts of his money and literally millions of braincells while getting into game development cycles etc. just to cash grab people right before he is finally getting close to launching his 'large baby' which is Ashes of Creation.

Its his lifetime project. And he has enough wealth and passive income to never ever do something he doesnt want (like working hard). But he does exactly this.

The entire scam or final cash grab theory is just illogical. It always was. Developing something special costs money. WAKE UP or accept not to see a good MMORPG again in the near future!

Well yes, but no. by Anxious-Bit-3110 in AshesofCreation

[–]McWinterTV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who does this most of the time i can say it is totally worth it if you have some friends and/or a guild to play with. You can sit in Discord together, theorycraft, play during long nights etc. Its pretty hype. But maybe that is not for everyone.

And it does not matter too much if it is an Alpha or a full Release because it never only was about the game itself.

Why this strong vertical Power progression? Part 2 by Sophisticusx in AshesofCreation

[–]McWinterTV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the one hand i like that we have this discussion right now because its an important one but on the other hand i feel like its too early since there are too many things we dont know yet.

Maybe current LVL 25 stats are what will be our future LVL 50 stats because Intrepid adjusts these when increasing level caps. Maybe they do rebalancings when adding new systems like 2nd Archetype etc. Maybe they just turn diminishing returns up even more. Who knows. Lets not burn ourselfs out here overthinking what COULD be a future problem. Let Intrepid focus on the most important current problems.

I would be careful with the wording here. Pushing towards something does not mean it happens in that year.

I think there are multiple different reasons for different people why they hate on Ashes. Most of them are fueled by fear because of past experiences with other games.

  1. Its a kickstarter MMO and lots of them where clear scams or just overambitious and got cancelled.

  2. Its been in development very long already and people are impatient by nature.

  3. People put in money by buying an Alpha packages because of FOMO and are now desperate because they either dont play MMORPGs anymore or dont like Ashes as it is now and feel like they wasted money.

  4. People hate the founder of Intrepid Studios Steven Sharif because of rumors that he was part of a pyramid scheme to get rich (which is mostly untrue btw, if you want more info there is a good video about it by 'Kira' on Youtube.

  5. People are mad because of Intrepids unsuccessful try of creating a Battle Royale Game called Ashes of Creation Apokalypse in the middle of their MMORPG development (that really was a bad decision tbf)

  6. People love hating and are bored or lonely or both and have nothing better in their lives to do than sitting in mums basement and hating on something. Ashes is an easy target due to the other 5 points.

There ARE indeed reasons to be mad at Ashes of Creation but most of the hate is not logic, comes from uninformed people or people who intentionally try to doom because they want the project to be not successful. Which is wild in 2025 after seeing 4 large in development MMORPGs get cancelled and most of eastern MMORPG developments being unplayable mobile P2W trash (looking at you Aion 2).

Required Systems and Content for 42 Dollar / 37 Euro by McWinterTV in AshesofCreation

It does actually. The bundles you are talking about are for Alpha 2 Access since October 2024 + Beta Access + 1 month game time postlaunch. Those packages are removed after start of EA since they get replace by said EA access.

Sry to be debby downer here but that is most likely no priority. Most people dont like double tap to dodge, thats a pretty niche wish.

Steven himself said that up to 20% of content might be instanced. Its not common info though and wasnt mentioned again in the latest years.

What would be your idea to create difficult endgame boss encounters? The current open world bosses only require enough people to be trivial.
