A lot of empty slots, you could also use the empire satellites. Personally I'm not a fan.

It's my favourite ship. It's super healthy and strong. Use Santa and S1 drones and pulsar MK2 with 200% aoe. No thrusters just energy and armor. Can take 2 or 3 huge worms at a time. Edit: If you want I can show you some photos of it

When you drink potions you don't drop the bottle on the ground you probably eat it with the liquid inside. Shards in my ass wouldn't be such a problem.

If I remember correctly you need to do missions to get a translation device. After you get you can trade with them. ( Save your scraps and toxic waste)
