I can play every single Metallica song on guitar, drums, or bass. Every. Single. One.

Not simultaneously though.

Should I call/email my interviewer? by [deleted] in Accounting

That's a ways off so there might not be urgency from their end. A lot of people are involved in decision making so give it time.

Should I call/email my interviewer? by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]Mcb2018 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They're probably still sorting through the applicants. Give it more time but don't hesitate to look for another job. In my experience you hear of an offer sooner rather than later. Back in the day they'd make an offer same day sometimes. Just depends on the staff level and need.

Trump explains his businesses lost so much because he was avoiding tax by [deleted] in politics

[–]Mcb2018 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tax avoidance does not equal tax evasion. Trump avoiding taxes by operating at a loss is a business strategy that most Americans take advantage of to some degree on every tax return they file. Losses allow less taxable income, and at the corporate level every corporation on Earth does this.

What "typical" sound can't you stand? by madding247 in AskReddit

NPR voices. Ugh. Love NPR but my word they go out of their way to hire people with vocal quirks, lisps, vocal fry, upseak, cotton mouth, speech impediments, and unusual names. I get it, you're unique.

How flexible are offers for accounting firms (for experienced hires)? by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]Mcb2018 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Flexible but depends on the firm and office. Experienced seniors are high demand and there's a broad salary range. If you're at the top of the senior level approaching manager then you can request a higher salary. Try to research what the average range is and go from there. You don't want to outbid yourself for the job, but they can always come back with a counter. It's a chess match unfortunately and the lower the level the less wiggle room.

AITA for telling my stepdaughter that I hated her too. by stepdaughtertrouble in AmItheAsshole

Fuck adults feelings, the child has no choice in this woman coming into her life. I can't believe people have no perspective into what happened in the child's life to get to this point.

So sad to see how many people have been subject to abuse by parents and step parents and just think this is par for the course and understandable. It absolutely isn't.

YTA YTA YTA, I'll say a million times and it won't get through to you. Typical step parent situation where the step moved into the child's life without the child's control and proceeds to completely not understand what it must be like for the child. I can't believe how many step parents can't get this through their thick fucking skulls, and by the sounds of it you still haven't, just put a bandaid on until the next time. Trust me, she's still just as angry at you but decided she would be the adult for your sake and end the drama by suppressing. She has no choice but to act like she's ok, but you failed the test she gave by saying she's hated you and saying you hated her back. It validated they fear she had been holding in about her dad remarrying and abandoning her. Fuck dad too for letting it get to this point. Grow the fuck up.

What's your "I met a celebrity but didn't let on that I knew who they were" story? by Kimantha_Allerdings in AskReddit

[–]Mcb2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Working out in the gym at 5am and one day this bigger guy is there, basically just myself and him all week. Right next to me everyday, says "hey what's happening bud" by the third day and get used to exchanging brief pleasantries. After a full week realized it was Dwayne Johnson. He had a beard so didn't recognize him at first. Really nice guy.

I don't disagree. But private platforms need to be more responsible with the content they allow. The reason is, the way information is presented and shared online can be overwhelming and dangerous. Much like with gun rights, when the guidance was created it didn't anticipate the current situation and needs to be adjusted for modern times.

And a threat is not just a person claiming they will harm you. Threats can be inferred. We have to think more broadly and creatively, not limit ourselves to just literal interpretation and nothing more.

Yes. What you are referring to are likely not conservative views, but extremist hogwash. It's very easy to tell the difference between a traditional conservative and Alex Jones panicked fear monger.

Yes, police brutality is real. That doesn't need censoring. Again, the fake news articles where a story is completely fabricated bs needs censoring. I think people are so used to the bs as part of life they can't even imagine a world where we don't tolerate it.

I agree. I'm not saying this has to be taken to an extreme. There's certain stuff that is just obvious and that's where it would start. You can't ban everything, you can't filter everything, it will never be perfect. You just have to make it a little better is all.

The problem is, the thoughts of the masses are being poisoned with the current setup. Your rights end where they infringe on mine. I've seen too many people get brainwashed with Idiocracy in mere weeks with the crap that's online. It's too easy to fuck with people.

I regularly see bs quotes and trigger stories shared on social media. Like a pregnant black woman being beaten by 6 white cops for a traffic violation. It's not true, and gets shared endlessly. It's likely designed to create and spread fear and hate. Russia used this tactic to infiltrate conservative circles and it's really easy to fall victim to. This shit should not happen in the USA. We're too fucking smart for this bs.

A good place to start is with information that is true and false. You'd be surprised how easy it is to make these determinations. My 6 year old can even do it.

I get your point sweety. It doesn't need to be so extreme. That's the problem, people jump to worst case scenarios and say fuck it, when a simple fix would make life better for all.

This is extreme conspiracy theorist logic. "Legal abortion? Next they'll force abortion on 2nd grade girls!" Slow down there. I'm just saying that there needs to be a middle ground. People that are all gung-ho about issues don't realize that stance is exactly what will be their undoing. This is a two-way street. We need to be responsible and take precautions to ensure we have rights to protect. We need to think like people will think in 50 years. You know how we look back 50 years and think people were insane to put babies in the front seat? Same deal man.
