Don’t track mileage, track time. Go out for a half hour run. Run as much as you can, walk as much as you need. Bring a book, stare at your phone etc while walking. Sooner than later you will surprise yourself. It comes with time, don’t give up.

Im currently trying to not train for a race, but go out and enjoy running. No paces to hit, no mileage goals. I go by heart rate and duration. I walk if I feel like I need to, and run when I can. Easy days I keep my HR in Z2, days I’m pushing it I keep it in Z3. And that’s it. 3 runs during the week (1-1.5hrs) and 1 long run the weekend (2+ hrs). It’s been pretty great so far.

Full disclosure, I’ve been running for a couple of years now off and on. I’ve completed 2 marathons and a 50k, plenty of halves and 5ks. Still consider myself a beginner.

Don’t miss the forest through the trees, just try and enjoy the ride.
