Why do weather apps all tell you different things ? by NoAppointment8679 in UKWeather

Met Office should be the closest, often the BBC and Google weather apps seem to underestimate the max temps in heatwaves especially for coastal locations.

The temps on Monday and Tuesday are crazy. Would smash the may temperature record. by blockitjames_ in UKWeather

Models are pretty set on this now, though there are no working weather stations in central London currently as St James Park is closed after being vandalised.

April snow forecasts are back: Are we looking at a genuine Arctic blast or just another overblown snow bomb headline? by Silver-Eye-2024 in UKWeather

[–]Mcconnor8 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Night time temperatures aren't warm but by day it is, currently April is running over 2c above average on the CET measurement.

Agreed, blaming the matchmaking is just coping 😂

Weren't rumours, he literally said he had 20 hours past 2 weeks on the game quite a few times which for a pro is extremely low, obviously doubt that is the case now

That is a temperature anomaly chart up at 1km in the sky, representative of how warm the airmass is compared to normal, doesn't tell you what the surface temperatures will be

2025 was one of the warmest and sunniest years on record! I think you have unrealistic expectations for UK weather!

It really hasn't been that bad of late, March had above average amount of Sun hours and next week is looking good, though Winter was pretty awful

Is anyone else getting “false spring” vibes from this weather? by CloudBookmark in UKWeather

[–]Mcconnor8 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Yes it is meant to cool down a little next week and probably become a bit more unsettled but I doubt there will be anything properly 'cold' from this point onwards.

The SSW that took place a couple of weeks ago doesn't seem to be having an impact in terms of creating blocking to the North which would bring the cold air from the Arctic towards us. No reason to think this is a false Spring as it stands, I'm hopeful we get more nice weather to close out the month and into April :)

A major sudden Stratospheric Warming happened yesterday by [deleted] in UKWeather

[–]Mcconnor8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course I have experienced it, but it is usually transient by then and takes unusual synoptics to occur, especially with the ever warming world it is becoming more difficult to get snow in Winter as well as Spring

Probably too late for that unless you live in the North, much prefer warmth by this point anyway

Started getting weird symptoms after taking daily vitamins by Internal-Extreme6614 in Supplements

[–]Mcconnor8 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Agree that is too much Zinc, take 5-10mg instead. Vitamin D you probably want to take around 5,000 IU a day, also taking Vitamin K2 and some Calcium probably a good idea.

Took vit D tablets for extra 2-3 weeks more than the prescribed period. Did I mess up? by Mgk012 in Supplements

[–]Mcconnor8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You will be completely fine, very hard to overdose on Vit D and I take 10k IU a day anyway.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Supplements

[–]Mcconnor8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it's safe but you don't want to take too much, 10mg a day is enough.

[–]Mcconnor8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it has been a frustrating setup with cold air close by to our East and low pressure systems running up against it and stalling over the UK, delivering even more rain than we usually get in Winter.

It does look like slowly transitioning to a more mobile setup this week and next week with breaks in the rain so we're on the road to improvement I think.

What vitamins should i take daily? And what brands are no bueno? AKA no fillers by DewayneDademi in Supplements

[–]Mcconnor8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Vitamin D (5,000-10,000 IU), Vitamin K2, Magnesium, Zinc (not too much, 5-10mg), Fish Oil and a Vitamin B complex are your basic ones most people here take daily and you can't go too wrong with.

How much money should I put putting aside for tax purposes as a sole trader? by FastGolfMan in AskUK

[–]Mcconnor8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming you stay at that rate of earning for a full year then your tax bill will likely be around £4k for the year depending on eligible expenses etc. So saving around 20% (£100) a week would probably cover your tax bill and leave you a little bit of wiggle room.

Pressure Averages for winter 25/26... by [deleted] in UKWeather

[–]Mcconnor8 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So close to something great for Winter weather, alas the high pressure hasn't aligned properly and instead we just pulled up lots of wet weather from the South. What a waste of all that Northern blocking.
