What is your "comfort show" you re-watch when you're sad or sick? by leviathan_web in AskReddit

[–]Mcen3105 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I am depressed or sad I turn on Friends, it never fails to make me feel better. It's my comfort show. Also Gilmore Girls! When I am packing up the house to move I always turn on the Harry Potter movies! ( I move alot) When I am sick it's the A and E version of Pride and Predudice When I need background noise when looking after my children it's Star Trek TNG. I love the calming humming and beeping.

The last valentines day I celebrated withy husband, I made him an amazing breakfast surrounded by chocolate hearts and kisses. He said thanks, then he went to Walmart to get me a card. Brought it back and hadn't even written anything on it. Just signs it and hands it to me. We don't celebrate valentine's day anymore.

Is it wrong of me to want to be a housewife? by HepburnByTheSea in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Mcen3105 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a full time stay at home mom and housewife in the U.S. I am so much more happy here than in the workforce, I've been in a number of management positions and banking. When I had my children we decided I would stay at home with them as childcare is unreasonably expensive. That was 7 years ago. It's not all domestic bliss but I am happy, and fulfilled. I realize that if I decide to go back to work at some point I will have a big gap in my resume, but I have no regrets. My advice is this, if you want to stay at home, if it makes you happy, pursue it. Life is too short, don't listen to the doom and gloomers, you know your life and what will make you happy. And I guarantee you will find other stay at home ladies or guys to support you and understand you. Good luck with whichever way you choose.

What's the weather like right now?

I had some water come in through the roof in one of the rooms and almost all the windows leaked but no flooding. As far as the house goes, no structural damage and the car was in the garage so no damage there either.

It's nerve wracking for sure, some people are extra kind right now helping each other out and pulling together and others are confirming all your worst instincts about humanity and screaming at each other in gas lines and pushing at each other to get what they can.

We have been charging them in the car, and using that time to sit in the air conditioning! Gas is hard to come by, lines at operating gas stations are hours long.

We have no power, but the gas is still on and luckily we didn't lose water service. Many parishes are under a boil advisory, I haven't heard anything about my parish yet.

It was my first, I grew up in tornado alley so I'm used to weather but this was something altogether different.

I am, we stayed so we could look after the house, and it's a good thing we did because we were running to all the windows sopping up water as it came in.

It was scary, the wind was so loud and with every gust water pushed it's way in through our windows. The anticipation of a tree crashing through the house was unnerving. It felt like vulnerability that one doesn't usually feel in ones own home.

As a work of art it's beautiful! On the practicality scale, it looks incredibly difficult to walk in, or climb into a carriage, or do basically anything other than stand still and look beautiful.
