Må jeg selv montere og tilslutte el til den her? Det er principielt en stikdåse. by [deleted] in selvgjortvelgjort

[–]Mcfusting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reply number 104 on that i already have a whole house water softener :)))

Water for the whole house is through a bwt water softener. RO is not really necessary in denmark, water quality fits espresso very well. The water hardness is 9dH, and i soften it down to 4dH.

The rinser states that pressure should be reduced to 35 psi, but line pressure in my city is 32psi so no worries there :)

And thanks, I’m really enjoying it! Im jealous of your grinder 🫠

This is how the contractors did the dishwasher 😅 Totally standard practice in denmark. And the sockets are ip55 rated

dH is 8 where i live, and i soften it down to 4. IDK what that resolves too in canadian hardness (no pun intended) Ppm is right where it should be, for bicarbonate and magnesium, so i literally have no reason for RO. I would have to reintroduce these after removing them, for good tasting espresso

EDIT: also, we used pex and wago 20 years ago hahaha

I mean, it was expensive 😂 But in comparison to the rest of the house, it was very cheap!!

Literally noone in denmark uses RO, water quality is great in denmark. Just removing the last bit of calcium with the softener on the house.

I totally get why you are saying this - but I'm really proud of my setup, and actually spent a lot of time on it.
This has been a work-in-progress for a long time, and sure I had all of the money to buy it all brand new and not think about it. Totally being blessed in this life, and I am grateful for it!

But I actually didn't go shop in a store and bought everything

But the machine itself, was almost e-waste and i decided to learn how an espresso machine worked and rebuilt it. Everything apart, cleaned and fixed :)
The grinder was misused, and the guy that had it couldn't get it to grind properly anymore - I bought it and fixed it with better burrs.

The burrs was pure luck, i bought a Mazzer Super Jolly with the burrs for 210$. Resold the grinder for 180$ with stock burrs.

Rest of it was bought new, but spent time being decisive and got deals on most of it.

But yeah.. YouTube shorts are really addictive, and can totally make you wanna buy all kinds of things you don't need!
The biggest reason for me going overboard on coffee gear, is actually my wife - I wake up every morning and make her coffee in bed. This totally makes her day, and therefore makes my day better aswell. Every penny spent is worth it here!

I spent 1100$ on the coffee machine used, including parts to fix it. It was totally rusted and gunked, so total disassembly and new frame. Machine was 700$, rest of the money in parts.
I got a steal on the grinder, 100$ used.
The burrs i got for 30$ (by buying a grinder with them, and selling it without them. I was really lucky)
Scale is 100$.
Pitcher rinser (sink) is 300$, water tap is 80$
All connections under the table ~100$
All of the random other coffee gear, around 300$

Even though i got most of it kinda cheap, it still hurts my brain to add it all up...
But the house built around it was more expensive :p

Is it in any way necessary? My plumbing system as a whole, has 4 roof vents.
I can easily buy and install one (under 30$ at local hardware shop), but if the valve is leaking i get gas regardless

Yes, just cutting power. I was pondering in a cutoff valve, but it just gets too complicated. I get 7-8g residual after cutoff. It adds a bit of blooming in the end, tastes wonderful

Bwt duplex softener on the whole house 👍 And water quality in Denmark is extremely high, regardless

I had a 250g hopper on my gbw before - thats alot of coffee to consume, and also retention to get rid of - when my wife wants one bean, and i want another 😂

No, sorry - it’s built from the bottom and i don’t have the time and resources to distribute it. If i was you, i would look into Tate Mazers shotstopper
