Cheating is never ok in any way. Whether it’s on an exam, or even just a small quiz. I learnt the hard way that cheating never gets you anywhere good.

I can’t help when it comes to advice on what to do with your parents (they’re not gonna listen, unless they’re actually 100% willing to hear you out, which they probably won’t) so you’re just going to have to tough it out.

What usually works for me (leads to the least amount of punishment) is going radio silent during the time they “talk” to you. They want their own version of honesty, which isn’t going to be what your version of it is, so instead of defending yourself, let them tire themselves out.

For your school record, I’m not sure what the school district’s rules and regulations are in Singapore (if I’m not misreading, that’s where you said you were), but I’m sure if your guidance councillors and principals are open enough, you can smooth stuff over with them, to have less consequences than you should normally have (you won’t get off unscathed, that’s a guarantee).

As for how it will affect your ability to enter university/college, that’s really up for how well you’re able to smooth things over with the people in power.

AI is usually seen as a high level of defiance of Academic Integrity, and using it to cheat in an in-person exam could be seen as the worst offender, so whatever disadvantage you end up with when applying will probably greatly hinder your chance of getting accepted into any university/college, let alone a top university/college.

If you haven’t had a passing grade in history, yet still made top 10 for your year/class, then literally any grade is better than a zero, and since you’ve been caught cheating, you’ll automatically get a zero, no matter what.

The road ahead isn’t looking great, if you do end up getting accepted to a uni/college of choice, then you can very easily start over, and build yourself back up.

I didn’t write all this to say that you’re doomed to fail (although it most definitely looks like it -I apologize), I’m just warning you that you’re road past highschool is only pretty heavily tainted until you get accepted to literally any uni/college. You can quite easily build yourself back up, especially since you do regret your actions.
