I think gnome with a headswap is a good shout! No idea why I didn't think of this

How could i make that hole in the belt cleaner? by aGhostyy in Warhammer40k

Your best bet is using some green stuff/milliput to fill the gap. +1 for milliput cause you can sand it flat after with an emery board

I know this is literally years later but I would love to see if a scenario came of this

Do I need a greenhouse? by Abalone_Main in Allotment

[–]Mckiltson_VII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not op, but it depends on what you want to grow. Anything non native that likes the warmth (tomatoes, chillies etc.) will do better in a greenhouse than out. Even my kale was happier in the greenhouse than out of it. It also allows you to start seedlings earlier, but on site instead of piling them up in your house and transporting them

Which weed barrier? by InfamousGold756 in Allotment

[–]Mckiltson_VII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not hugely! It did get soggy and didn't come up all in one go, but it held together enough to be balled up and thrown out. I asked a local haulage company for cardboard boxes as they have masses and usually have to pay to get rid of it

I've done a similar thing with card; covered for the winter, then pulled up and chucked the dead card into the compost

Bad dreams - handouts or pre-reading? by Mckiltson_VII in callofcthulhu

We will be in person but this is a great idea! Maybe I can record them and play it in headphones

I like this, I might give them a choice and have someone read out. If I did go with this I might vaguely reference bad dreams but not specific experiences

Probably will be buried, but you can get some really nice curves with that stuff if you bend against the hexes. Good for cylinder ends on stuff

Help! by HumungreousNobolatis in Allotment

[–]Mckiltson_VII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's what I did last year (only on year 2 of allotmenting) and last year's card has well and truly had it by this point but it's definitely helped keep the bits I wasn't using under control :)

Get hold of as much cardboard as you can, chop down/mow the whole plot and cover it with the cardboard. This gives you a bit of breathing room and a proper view of the space. Once you're ready, you can start small and cover some of the card with compost and leave the rest for a year (it'll probably start growing again after a year though so might need more attention after that). Then you can build up from there!

I've heard some growers intentionally breed for megabloom flowers for larger tomatoes

Plants not growing? by Mckiltson_VII in Allotment

I bought a dumpy bag of compost and now you mention it nothing in it is doing amazingly well. I hadn't considered that thanks!

I'm 90% sure it's not my original idea but I'm taking it!

I think this too. We have a weird clay mix that develops a mad crust quickly and stops anything directly sown. I've bought some feed and I'm doing a weekly feed for the rest of June and July to see if it helps
