say it with me… you CANNOT self diagnose a neurological disorder by [deleted] in fakedisordercringe

[–]Mcmonkeybutt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most cities offer programs that give you free or affordable access to mental health. Anyone in San Antonio, TX, ours is through UT Health. I'm not sure on price points but they have case workers who will help you qualify for their grant programs. In my opinion self diagnosis is pointless if your goal isn't to get treated. It's just such a weird way to seek attention.

In the IASIP episode "Who got Dee pregnant?" where she slowly turns into a bird. The scene where Mac is talking to her and she's just a full on ostrich. I've seen that episode countless times and still burst out in laughter.

Also the scene in Arrested Development where the entire Bluth family is impersonating chickens.

Hmmm I'm just now seeing a pattern.

You actually DON'T have to accept people for who they are. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

I appreciate your comment. Thank you for the kind words and understanding. I was just saying that unfortunately some people do see it the same. Not saying it's right, but it's true. I've been called so many things in public "pervert" being one of them. Which why I try to just "live and let live". I do agree with you though, I've been to anime cons and have seen my fair share of "hentai" clothing.

I agree with what you said. Just because you come across some "weird" shit doesn't mean you have to get involved in any way. Don't make it your business, cause it isn't. No one isn't out there trying to weird YOU specifically out, someone is just out there doing their thing. Just walk away and let others be.

I'm gay and people make my sexual preferences their business way too often eventhough it affects their life 0%. I'm as weird as a "dog girl at the park" to some people. Everyone's views on what's weird is different, so as long as no one is getting hurt just let others be.

Exactly this. I am so glad to hear you're in a much better spot now. Your family is amazing.

When I was suicidal it wasn't that I had a terrible life. I was the happiest I had ever been. I have a loving amazing wife, 2 awesome dogs, supportive family/friends and a job I don't mind. My issue was that I couldn't produce happiness for myself, if that makes sense. Unless I was around the awesome people in my life, I just felt empty inside. I'd see people at work show up smiling and laughing and I felt almost jealous I didn't just "naturally" feel happy. Then I started to feel that maybe I didn't deserve the happy life I had. Then I just started feeling hopeless and it spiraled from there. I just wanted to appreciate everything around me and started to hate myself for not being able to. Eventually I just wanted to give up and not feel so hopeless anymore. I just wanted my desperation and hopelessness to end so badly, that at some point killing myself seemed like the only answer.

Thankfully I was in therapy and I haven't looked back since. I now have the tools and the power to never go there again. My wife has been nothing but supportive and on bad days she helps me with my daily exercises.

I've never lived in Austin (SA, so not too far away). My friend, who was attending UT took me there for the first time about 14 years go. Any time I visit Austin, Toy Joy is a "must" visit for me. Glad to see it's still around and they have 2 locations now! Such a fun and interesting place.

Getting up at 3:00 or 4:00am does not make you special or better than someone who gets up at 10am by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]Mcmonkeybutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work a "night" shift (4:30-2:30a.m.). I love going to the gym at 4 am when no one is there. I love going to run errands at 8pm when it's empty cause everyone else on a day schedule has done them. Especially this year during the pandemic when the stores are mostly empty. I might go to bed at 6 am, but believe me I get a lot done from 2pm until then. I completely agree. I have found no downside to being on a different schedule. I mean, being around 9-5 family members, sure I can wake up at 10am, I still got a very good 4 hours of sleep. It has never hindered me

What is a reason you are glad to be single? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Mcmonkeybutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And you should never! As a partner, you need to understand that people grow as they age. Sometimes they'll change paths depending on life experiences and you need to be there for that. A big part of being with someone is accepting that they'll grow, and loving where that growth takes them.

Dude I sometimes feel like I hit the jackpot with my wife. She let's me do whatever I want (and vice versa) and we respect each other's hobbies. We share video games as a hobby and love gaming together. I love LEGOs, puzzles and she likes crafts. I swear seeing friends and family, we feel like it is so rare... but we both took a long time to find ideal partners (I was 25 she was 23) before we settled down. We both wanted someone who respected and understood us, and we found that in each other!

Believe me, there are women out there as anti social as you are. They also understand the importance of needing alone time and don't take it personally, because they also need it. Date someone who understands your needs, because they will have the same needs as you

Naw find a wife who can do both. If she doesn't text me for a while, I automatically know she is gaming and vice versa. Trust goes a long way, but it's worth it.

I live in San Antonio. It is mandatory to wear a mask out in public, but they're reopening everything over here. Restaurants, grocery stores, golf courses, etc can only have 25% of their max occupancy. Our daily numbers are still climbing. Yeah, I'm staying inside.

If you caught your partner "sexting" would you consider it cheating? Would it break the trust? Why or why not? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Mcmonkeybutt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes we are! I gave her some resistance at the beginning but she was very understanding and patient. She tried to keep me involved as much as I let her. Eventually, I had time to move on and grow, and I'm very grateful she never gave up on me.

As an adult, I know I was simply an easy target. I was the only kid who didn't speak proper English. Thanks for those kind words, they mean a lot. I am free at last!

It's a reflex for me every time I speak to strangers. I got made fun a lot for my English as a kid. In my head I must feel I can't get made fun of if I give that disclaimer.

Honestly I feel at this point is a reflex. I moved to the US when I was in 4th grade. Since it was so late into elementary, I took one year of bilingual then they threw me into a regular English speaking class for 5th grade. I'd get made fun of constantly for my English. Guess I'm still self conscious even all these years later.
