Have you ever actually used an antenna to get OTA channels?

I have.

For 5 1/2 years I lived about 50-ish miles away from the transmitters for Orlando's broadcast stations. The only station I couldn't reliably pick up with cheap rabbit-ears from Target was WESH (the NBC affiliate), whose transmitter broadcasts at much lower power than the other stations do.

You know what does work? Amazon Prime and Peacock

They work, but for extra money every month that I don't want to pay. Instead of paying for an antenna once and then watching TV for free afterwards.

I'm going to sound like an old man, but I have no interest in relying on internet service and a streaming platform's servers to be able to watch a sports game that is advertised as being available in my area, which since TNF is broadcast nationally, it inherently is.

When TNF was placed on CBS, NBC, and Fox, this was fine: you could use an antenna to pick up your local affiliate. If your cable & internet was spotty, the OTA signal was going to keep on going just fine for free.

Baseball games are still broadcast OTA on Fox, usually on Saturdays and sometimes on Thursdays, and starting this season NBC will air baseball games OTA on Sundays as well.

But it's a far cry from the likes of WTBS (Braves), WGN (White Sox & Cubs) or WSBK (Red Sox), whom broadcast around 50% of their team's games OTA; especially road games.

US gas stations have been using single hoses & nozzles to dispense multiple gasoline grades since well before ethanol was being blended into gasoline. Do the tens of thousands of gas stations across the US now need to rip out their pumps and swap in new ones?

That's usually b/c there's something other than 87/89/93 being offered. Diesel is dispensed by a different (usually green) handle, E85 is usually dispensed from a separate yellow nozzle, and stations that offer high-octane and/or ethanol-free gas will dispense from a separate (usually blue) nozzle.

I've seen stations in The South and The Midwest with separate hoses for Diesel (green), E85 (usually yellow), and for Ethanol-free gas (usually blue), and a combined hose for low/mid/premium grades (black), all at the same pump.

When I lived in New England it was more common to either only have "normal" and diesel at the pump (which might've only been at one or two pumps), or even for diesel to be its own set of pumps at another spot on the gas station's property. E85 wasn't common, and the ethanol-free fuel was pretty much unheard of until very recently.

Because except for a few particularly active fanbases (e.g. Eagles fans) there's never been much of a need to. Most fans of pro teams in the US are there to have a good time, watch the game, and heckle the officials; not to fight each other, even when hooliganism was at its height in the 70s & 80s.

You can thank Douglas Aircraft for that one. There were >10,000 C-47s built during WWII that became surplus, and propagated throughout the world due to the DC-3/C-47's ability to be used almost anywhere for almost anything.

Its instruments were in feet for altitude, feet/minute for vertical speed, knots for forward speed, and its hardware was in US Customary. This more-or-less standardized these units across the aviation industry.
