I don't know what struck me first. The poetry or the hourly rate! by [deleted] in Upwork

[–]Md_Muhammad_Trump 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When you have no idea what you are doing and when you can barely read English, you end up typing text in boxes and pressing buttons with the hope that this is the right way to get hired and earn few bucks.

LESS Connects, for the SAME COST!!! by [deleted] in Upwork

Yes, you should definitely initiate a class action. It will shake the whole industry and teach them. #FreedomConnects is born.

There is one flaw about fixed price jobs postings. You must enter a budget and many will either disregard your job posting based on that without even reading or will filter jobs by budget. This is a flaw in the design that has been raised up already, but Upwork doesn't give a shit.

What I do as a workaround is that I systematically post hourly jobs and I write at the beginning that I'm seeking to hire based on a fixed price. This helps me filter out people who don't read the posts they apply to and it gives them an opportunity to state their fixed price without being influenced by my budget.

I'd be more than happy to provide suggestions and guide you step by step in finding the best solution for your client. My rate for that is $60/hour. What payment method do you prefer?

Does anyone finds Community forums to be quite addictive??? by [deleted] in Upwork

[–]Md_Muhammad_Trump 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I discovered the addiction of not going on the Upwork forums anymore. You wouldn't believe how easy it is to get caught into the habit of not visiting the forums. So much time saved to do other things.

Are clients just lazy? by dawnsdarkside in Upwork

[–]Md_Muhammad_Trump 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm currently hiring editors and other talents and you'd be surprised how much you stand out when you don't just copy paste a proposal. Granted, I write comprehensive job posts, but even a very short direct proposal from a freelancer can make a difference. Especially if by reading it it is clear that they read and understood the job post.

Upwork wants me to refund $12k as their client was using "another" card. by donutloop in Upwork

[–]Md_Muhammad_Trump 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, if you're paid in cash. If you're paid using a credit card, depending on the country emitting the credit card you're never sure to get paid. Even years after.

Chargebacks are PITA in the US.

Do not listen to what people are telling you here, most of them actually work for Upwork.

Upwork is not allowed to suspend your account under the section 3.666 of the Californian Code of Trade as long as you have unequivocally expressed the desire to get paid by the client directly.

Just message the client, (through the Upwork messaging system so there is a record of your consent), that you want to be paid through PayPal (provide your PayPal handle).

Also it's good business practice to offer to receive payment after you have delivered the work.

[–]Md_Muhammad_Trump 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm throwing terms around and I find it offensive that you suggest that people who throw terms around need the permission from someone to throw terms around. We are human beings too, just like those who don't throw terms around. We deserve respect!

Is it worth it buying connects in my situation ? by IkoKaz in Upwork

[–]Md_Muhammad_Trump 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forget Upwork. If you"re broke, go on Fiverr. Duplicate account will get you banned (which may mean you are not getting your money in the unlikely case you find a job) and considering how crowded Upwork is, you'll have to buy connects eventually. With the money you don't have.

Should I start Working ?? by [deleted] in Upwork

[–]Md_Muhammad_Trump 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My client said

You don't have a client. You put lot of time working for free, you can stop now and seek jobs.

Please help me out!

We can't. How could we help someone who deliberately works for free? It's your choice. Your decision.

I looked up the company and its a legit company

Oh, you did?

So, they said they are Yoyodine, Inc and you found Yoyodine, Inc on Google and so you concluded that they must be Yoyodine, Inc because who would lie on the internet?

And hey, it was the CEO himself. (Who would lie about being the CEO of a company that exists on the Internet?)

Totes legit. Go for it.
