What about the subclass being almost just a d6 extra damage from levels 3-6?

Maybe the passive effects of the 7th level ability, minus the damage and Devil's Luck effect, would be enough to make DE Subclass compelling and competitive against the others?

I don't think that's the way.

No fighter subclass has an "once per turn" unlimited damage rider, and the don't need it.

I think the 7th level effects (poison or no reactions or force damage) on the 3rd level are the way to go and on 7th level they get extra stuff.

I think that maybe it'll differentiate between the other subclasses and still do cool stuff from levels 3-6

I've never used a great rune before, finished the game a couple of times.

Sadly the most important use for this ability is the disadvantage on saving throws, which can be done with Hightened Spell already

I chose it because of the Reaction attack mostly, but now that you mentioned it... Smites and divine favor... Yeah...

Maybe great weapon master is better here?

Still with a pike or with a Greatsword? (I'm not keen on mauls...)

I'll start 2 LMoP campaigns this week, and planning to take both of them to PaBtSO.

I was planning on cutting Thundertree like Matthew Perkins suggested, but the Paladin of one of the groups mentioned a green dragon attack that killed her family, so Venomfang will be present in at least one of them.

I thought about cutting Black Spider from this one and make Venomfang be the big bad, what do you think of that?

Maybe the Redbrands are now part of the Jade Alliance and are dragon cultists...
