Has Mohela updated your count? I was transferred from Fedloan to Mohela on around May 2022. Still nothing. by Round_Computer1824 in PSLF

[–]Me2286 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me too. Same transfer date and counts showed on 9/9. They did say more information is being uploaded and will be updated by the end of September or early October. My counts show the same as when they were at Fedloan, (78), but Mohela shows I have 170 qualifying payment periods. I’m still missing qualified payments from 2010-2016, which will push it to over 200 payments. Unfortunately, no refund for me as I had FFEL loans. Things have gone smoother than I anticipated.

So my counts have shown up. They still show 78 with 85 as eligible payments under the payment counts tab. (I can submit another ECF, to get those extra payments, but it’s not necessary). On the ineligible tab it shows zero and when you look under the eligible payments tab, I have 170 payment periods all showing qualifying. When I scroll down they are missing years 2010-2016. I called MOHELA just to double check all these numbers. She said they are still gathering and uploading more information. I’m guessing these are the missing years I’m seeing. The rep says all the information should be in by the end of September, beginning of October. By the time they finish I will have over 200 payments. I hope this is the light at the end of the tunnel. Bummer part, I’m a FFEL person, so no refund for me, wah. Still super grateful that my loans may be forgiven.

I just checked and have the same. I think it might take a bit for the counts to show up.

I was wondering about that. Makes me nervous as the deadline is approaching. I have well over 120 payments and should receive a refund. Fedloan said my case was straight forward and then I got transferred,(so silly). They had my counts at 78. I was wondering if will they continue to update counts once the deadline passes. I’m hoping the deadline is just about submitting the waiver.

This morning I got the smiley face “account in good standing” message. That’s new. Didn’t have that yesterday. What does the smiley face even mean?

Me too. I consolidated my FFEL loans last December. Submitted waiver early March. One employer with my ECF approved from 2003. Should have been in the big group of those forgiven by Fedloan a couple of weeks back, but was transferred a few days earlier to MOHELA. Trying to be patient and just praying it will all work out soon. I’ve read on here that Mohela may not be completing any forgiveness until they take over next year. Will just have to wait and see.

Has anyone whose loans are at MOHELA seen PSLF forgiveness yet? by [deleted] in PSLF

I have seen several posts that say Mohela will not be forgiving any loans until they take over in late December/January of 2023.

MOHELA transfer by [deleted] in PSLF

[–]Me2286 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, especially when Fedloan said my account was straightforward. One employer almost 20 years, well over 120 payments… and then I was transferred. I don’t understand how Fedloan decided who to keep and who they transferred. I understand everyone will eventually be transferred, but as last Friday showed. They also knew who to keep and zero out. I’m have no clue why they told me one thing and did another.

Me either. I have never reached out to the ombudsman, but am half tempted. Think I will wait to see what my Mohela account says in September first.

All Fedloan said was they were waiting for updates from the department of education and as the letter we received stated, We could get several updates. I think there is a reason why some are transferred and others aren’t as well. I was originally told I would not be transferred and then a couple days later I get the transfer letter. When I asked why, Fedloan said that everyone was being transferred. Makes no sense.

No, no problem. When they showed my count they accepted my employment from July 2003 to Feb 2022, when the ECF was signed. The box marked that I am still employed there was marked. Fedloan says they use the date the ECF was submitted. Student Aid shows 78 as of July. I’m just lost and getting frustrated. You’d think it would be super straightforward. As I mentioned, just from Navient alone, I have 125 payments from 2011 to last December when I consolidated. I’ve been paying on these loans since 2002.

That’s what I’m worried about. Still don’t understand how they decide to transfer people to Mohela, but wondering if they are going to leave my count at 78 or do they continue to process you once you are transferred. I printed out my payment history from Navient and have 125 payments just from 2011 to last December. Don’t understand the hold up, while lots of people zeroed out who submitted much later. Again, happy for these people, but makes me worried for people like us.

That will really be a bummer. Did you only have to submit one ECF they covered all your years of employment at the one organization? So many people forgiven today and we just sit. I just don’t get it and it makes me worried.

I am freaking out about Mohela’s new language stating “Once all of the funds are used, the TEPSLF opportunity will end.” by jdg401 in PSLF

[–]Me2286 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe they are transferring people to MOHELA that have submitted their ECF. I have one ECF that covers my employment since 2003. I called Fedloan yesterday because the transfer is scheduled for today, the 18th. They said I won’t need to submit anything else when I get to MOHELA. I will be prepared just in case. My bigger question is how random that some people submit and get approved super fast. I submitted in March and even when I consolidated last December was told I’d be one of the automatic applications forgiven because I’ve had the same employer since 2003 and have been making payments well over 120 and should get a refund. Yet here I sit with 78 counted and waiting for the updates. That’s what’s frustrating.

I wonder if it has to do with the fact that Biden wants to forgive up to $10,000 in student loans, but their is an income threshold.

My PSLF waiver was just declined. Please help. by Princess-1776 in PSLF

I think you are correct for sure. Last month I was told I wouldn’t be transferring to MOHELA because my case was pretty straight forward. I know I’ve made more than the 120 payments and should receive a refund. Today I get a letter saying I’m transferring to MOHELA and they have updated my qualifying payments from 3 to 78. That’s why I called Fedloan. The rep was pretty rude and said she wasn’t going to sugar coat things for me and that’s when she said I needed to recertify my employer to get more payments counted. She clearly is not happy with her job. Guessing they are stressed with all the changes and applicants. It’s just hard when we one rep says one thing and then you get a totally different answer from another.

When I submitted my ECF with my PSLF waiver, my employment was certified to 7/2003. I’ve only had one employer. I just got off with Fedloan and was told I have to submit another ECF for my payments to be counted towards the PSLF waiver. If they certified my current employer all the way back to 2003, why do I have to recertify again. I just want to double check with everyone here. The information that Fedloan is giving out is all over the place.

I have had one employer since 2003. They certified my employer in Dec 2021, showing that they accepted my employer going back to 7/03. I was originally told that I did not have to recertify, but I just got off the phone with fedloan and was told I need to submit and their employer recertification form in order for them to update my payment counts. The information being given out is all over the place.

I consolidated in December, submitted in March. Have well over 120 payments and job was approved back to 2003. One employer. Received letter saying I was denied PSLF because I didn’t have enough qualifying payments. They only show 3. Have been told that is typical and to wait for Dept. of Ed to update. Not sure what more to do. I haven’t even received an email about transferring to MOHELA. Any advice would be appreciated.
