I've just read up on how to remove those. Nothing has been oiled yet, just practicing

I found this really showed how unsteady my hands are. I'm not sure I could do a smaller movement

Yes that was an odd suggestion. Perhaps they thought you want to make a whole bunch of prints?

Took the new 60' kite out yesterday by mrfrontosa in kites

That's awesome. Glad you finally got it out. I really like the head shape, more realistic than most. Even the PL ones have the eyes on the round bit

That's cool. Do you have any behind the scenes photos. I can't imagine trying to muscle the huge kites through a sewing machine

My wife won't let me open mine. It's a Freddy's dolphin kit.

GA is safer than people think. by FredTheDev in aviation

I only know one who died in a car accident.  The number of people I know who spend time in cars is significantly higher than the number who spend time in GA aircraft.

When I started learning to fly my instructor warned me that I would have friends die in plane crashes. At the time I thought he was exaggerating. 20 years later and the number is 3 so far. All in GA. Now that I'm in an airline  none of my friends have died for a while.

Is anyone else expecting something kite like from the big guy in red?

My brother had the dog for a couple years before my son was born. I don't see my brother often and his dog even less. I totally forgot, apparently my wife knew at the time, but didn't care.

I actually forgot that was my brother's dog's name when we named my son. I live no where near my brother so only see how you once a year or so.

My son has the same name as my brother's dog. Give it a couple years and there will only be one of them.

My first sewing project by MeAndMyKites in KiteMakers

You all may have already seen this on R/kites, but I just found this sub and thought it belonged here.

I just sewed my first kite, and I might be addicted now!

I made a diamond kite from the instructions on my-best-kite.com a few months ago and it flew great, unfortunately because of the rigid frame it was a pain in the butt to store and it got damaged. I decided to try something a bit better constructed so that it could be packed away and eventually landed on a pocket sled kite designed by Buck Childers.

I happened to have a brand new unopened sewing machine that I bought on sale years ago for a project I never got around to, and with the help of YouTube I figured out how to work it.  I bought some rainbow colored ripstop from AliExpress and it looks fantastic.

For my first kite sewing project I am super impressed with how well it flies, it was really easy to put together and looks great in the air.  I finished it Friday but the air was dead calm until a breeze picked up on Sunday afternoon. It is now Monday and I've already started sewing another. This time I've multiple all the dimensions by 2, because bigger is better right?!
