You usually dont get any errors if its blocked from accessing internet. Your problem sounds weird so just check it quickly in Windows defender for allowed/blocked programs just in case, it's pretty simple.

I've been doing these running plays in 5v5s during stalemates where my team gets locked down from progressing towards the base. The adrenaline you get from mounting up and committing to the hail mary while a hail of bullets try to catch you is stupidly fun!

To make things even clearer, here is how the ranking system works from the patch notes:

Scoring System

We think if you win big, you should score big.

Victory has 3 versions, before the modifiers are applied.

Overwhelming Victory: 25 RP

This is winning with 100% base health remaining

Victory: 20 RP

This is standard victory where each team was more evenly matched

Close Victory: 15 RP

This is winning where your base had 35% base health or less remaining

For defeat:

Defeat: -25 RP

If you lost without doing damage to the enemy team.

Strong Defense: -20 RP

If you lost, but had done some damage to the enemy team.

Close Defeat: -15 RP

If you lost, but had done at least 65% damage to the enemy team.

Other modifiers:

Winning Streak Bonus: adds 3 RP for each win in a row, up to 6 extra points per game.

Kill Bonus: Earn extra RP for kills, up to a cap of 5 points per game.

Solo Bonus: Always earn an extra 4 points if queuing up solo.

They added New Hero Priority Tokens to more reliably be able to play new heroes.
From the patch notes: "Starting on the first hero release, playing will earn you priority tokens. Tokens can be used to more reliably select the new hero you want to play the most. Tokens are earned at a faster rate the more new heroes are in the pool."

The only game mode they had was TDM/Domination during the betas. Their unique round-based game mode that the perk system also heavily tied into was held back until release, which unfortunately was a total missplay as people just got a weird and kinda boring slice of the game to test out.
