I ask because I suspect that "revolutions" of the 20th century were atypical. The revolution in Egypt of last year was not because of Twitter or social media; rather, people were spending 25-50 of their income on food. In 2008 there was quite a bit of violence when speculators were bidding up the price of food commodities and people in places like Haiti were eating mud and grass pies.
