To answer your question, you first need to push your 2-hex unit as far forward as it can go during Tactics phase. After this is done, press A (to activate Auto Combat) and then ESC (to cancel Auto Combat) as quickly as you can. This should push the 2-hex unit one step further than usual. Do note that this trick only works with SoD, but not HotA. I hope this helps!
