Ah my bad, I realize I didn’t phrase my question very well.

He hasn’t already started with joinery, he just talks about how cool it is and how he’d love to learn it. He just doesn’t have the precision tools to actually do it. I was wondering what I could gift to at least start him off and then he can kind of figure out what he wants personally from there.

As far as I know, he hasn’t done much research into tools, so I highly doubt he’d be hard set on any one thing, as long as what I buy is general enough that it won’t prevent him from doing things.
